Does the lot you are playing on has the Simple Living Lot Challenge by any chance? This Challenge makes you require all ingredients to cook a meal, you can turn it off by clicking on the trophy in the Lot Traits UI.
I honestly think the game is unplayable now without using cheats, i have to use it now because of this bug, i thaught it was because my sim was a mermaid, i tried with a nomal sim and a vampire, only way they can eat is to deliver food
@Zipes_floof Actually, this post ended up being about a lot trait/challenge that was assigned to the lot, "Simple Living", so it's working as intended. Please read through the accepted solution for clarification of what I mean. If you have that lot trait all you have to do is remove the trait on the lot as mentioned in the solution.
In your case, is this happening for all of your Sims and on all lots, or does it involve this lot trait? When you say it's not possible to have them eat in your game without cheats, I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean by using Mod/s?
