My sim is being held hostage by the university

Has anyone had any issues with the "packing up and moving out" event? My sim finished her 1st term then it asked her if she wanted to do another term or take a break, so I chose take a break and that'...

My problem was that I added my sim's friend to my family, and the friend was not enrolled in the university, and then I killed the friend before packing up finished, but now my sim can't travel.
Help!
