My Sims 4 CC Won't show up!! Help please!

Hi, I've gone through quite a bit of trouble with sims 4. Firstly, it all started when I updated origin about a month ago, then everything in my sims progress disappeared. It was still in the folder but not in the game. I went to the live help for sims 4 on EA and the man literally messed everything up, so I gave up and deleted origin and uninstalled sims 4 off the computer. Now, I'm on my new game, all refreshed and such. now my game works fine, I created a new sim but NO cc will show up in the game. my folder is full of cc, but its not translating to the game. please help!

    @heyhiheyfren  There are two issues here.  The first is that the game won't read any files on the desktop, so the Mods folder where you're adding your mods isn't being used by the game.  The second issue is that if you have your computer set to automatically sync the contents of Documents with iCloud drive, your content may disappear from your internal hard drive, and the game won't be able to find it.

    The way the system works is it keeps one copy locally as well until it thinks you're running out of internal storage, then it deletes the local copy and only uses the one in iCloud Drive.  But Sims 4 doesn't look in iCloud, it only looks in the local version of Documents, so it won't find anything that only exists in cloud storage, and instead it'll spawn a new copy of the Sims 4 folder, with none of your existing content.

    To avoid this issue, please first disable automatic syncing of Documents with cloud storage.  Actually, first move the Mods folder on your desktop somewhere else (you can just drop it in Downloads) so it doesn't disappear.  Then disable auto syncing of Documents and Desktop, as shown here:

    Now start the game once, which will generate a new Mods folder in the local Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4 folder.  Move your custom content to that folder, enable cc and script mods, and it should all show up.  Let me know if it doesn't.

    By the way, you can leave iCloud enabled overall if you want and manually sync any folders you'd like to back up.  The issue is the auto syncing, not having iCloud running at all.

  • @heyhiheyfren  Does your computer run Windows or macOS?  Please also post the file path to one custom content item you've tried to install.  In Windows, you can see the file path in a File Explorer window, above the list of files and folders.  In macOS, right-click (or hold crtl and click) on the file and select Get Info, then copy and paste the section under "Where."

  • Make sure you have ticked the box in Options to allow Mods/CCs. You'll need to restart your game after ticking that box

    @puzzlezaddict :

    /Users/(my name, removed for privacy purpose)/Desktop/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4/Mods

    I've also discovered it appears there's two mods folders on my computer. (I will full reply with a screenshot)

    Attached is the screenshot of the two folders.

    I've discovered there are two folders. One was created on August 25, right around when I got the game. This is likely from my first time downloading it. The new one was created on the 14th, when I re-downloaded it. I find one folder, the one with only two items under iCloud documents > ea (I'm on Mac). The second one, from Aug.25, is under desktop > ea.

    @heyhiheyfren  As long as you're sure you have all the content you want, then yes, go ahead and delete the other folders.  You may want to wait a couple days to empty the trash though, in case you realize later you're missing some file you'd like to have back.  Once you know you all your content is still present, then everything else can be deleted.

  • Hi there is script mods enabled and have you checked for updates if all else fails delete localthumbcache from Sims folder.
