It does all sound a bit odd and overcomplicated. Thanks for looking into it. Hopefully the new expansion or a future patch simplifies and pays proper respect to step-families.
@iamsweetmystery Yes let's hope so. They added Fiance in CAS, while Aunt, Uncle, Grandparents and Cousin are generated automatically as you link relationships together. Step parent should be the same instead of just Housemate. In fact they all should be there at the start.
