Painting Skill

My sim is a level 10 painter and I want her to do a certain abstract painting, but she’s not doing it after many attempts.

Are some paintings only available at certain levels?

  • @GridironGuy88   Hello!  I so feel your pain and I agree with  @xochiquetzl_xkvn .  It's completely random and annoying sometimes.  I wouldn't mind if we got a submenu to choose from available paintings to do, depending on skill level. :-)

I have a few artists in my game with different personality traits, usually no career and instead I get them to buy a retail lot and use Register with the Ministry of Labour to create the Art Shop owner career for them. Then I make them paint for days on end. Any paintings I don't like get sold immediately (I'm not a classics fan), but the ones I do like get several copies made and placed in the retail lots. My favourites are the Abstract, Impressionism and Surrealism styles. I'm a huge Monet fan and there is actually a Sim painting that looks like one of my favourites.

I end up with rooms full of paintings for my retail lots but I save the rooms too, for when they are all sold out and I copy them to other retail lots too (when it's working because it can be buggy on Console).

That way I've got as many of my favourites as I can get and my other Sims can buy them. Because there is always that one painting that only pops up once. I have a poor exhausted Sim painting and painting until they finally paint the one I'm waiting for. Unfortunately with Growing Together they get burnout now while painting,  but at least I already had a few art shops built before I added it.
