Potential Roommates Never Show Up

I was just chatting with some other helpers and we were brainstorming about what additional things that we've had in our homes and roommate rooms that may be needed to make them succeed:
- Please make sure that there is a bed in the home per each pet (as I mentioned before) - (extras, on top of the ones for the roommates)
- Please also make sure that there is a regular-sized bed in the home also per each baby and toddler (extras, on top of the ones for the roommates) (toddler-sized beds don't count)
- Please make sure that there is a dresser, plenty of space, a desk, and a bedside table for each roommate (as you would expect to be furnished in a dorm.)
A couple of things that my roommates seemed to respond to (things that keep them happy and there):
- I found that my roommates seemed more willing to eat after I added a mini-fridge
- My roommates all wanted to use the main family bathroom until I put the best tub and a talking toilet in their area. They were thrilled to use those!
- They will occasionally eat a group meal when I do the 'call to meal' action after making a meal.
- When they do that thing where they keep bringing meals from off-lot, if one is sat down drag it to the refrigerator. They are more likely to eat those meals when they're in the refrigerator.
- Make ice cream and drag it to the refrigerator. They cannot resist ice cream and cake. They also like using the coffee maker, music/dancing, and the tv.
- Having a butler &/or maid is super helpful for keeping things up and keeping them happy. (Remember that the butler will need his/her own bed assigned also.)
@SheriGR When I have been able to ask roommates to live with my sims I haven’t had an issue with roommates features, but i don’t get why potential roommates aren’t showing up with the advertisement regardless of how many beds I have.
@hanmariemay I hear your frustration. I don't understand why it worked in my game and not in yours either. I'm only mentioning these things since these are features my friends and I were discussing that we added to our lots and things that seemed needed to attract and keep our roommates.
I did find some buggy things in my roommates, including that thing where they keep leaving the lot to come back with group dinners, eating spoiled food that they are keeping in their personal inventory (I married one of my roomies to a household member and he had several spoiled meals in his inventory). They obviously leave the lot for showers sometimes, it's hit-and-miss as to whether they'll eat, bathe, or use the toilet on the lot even though they're hungry or need to shower/pee, and each roommate seems to have at least once where they have to send out that 'I can barely take care of myself' message... to name the main things that come to mind.
Roommates are a great feature, and I'm glad they added it, but I think the whole roommates thing still has some bugs to work out. 🤔
