Forum Discussion
From reading your posts it seems like you don't fully understand how Answers HQ works and its purpose which is why I linked to the help thread in my earlier post. PR is irrelevant here when trying to help people as we are players helping players and unaffiliated with EA. And no, regular posters do not take on Moderator roles. Again, this is covered in the link I provided.
In the bug thread you are active in, you stated that Mac users are experiencing the lag issue worse than Windows users. I asked you yesterday to provide me with links to Mac users who are experiencing this specific lag issue since the recent patch. You have chosen not to do so. This would be valuable information because I'm still struggling to find any Mac users experiencing this exact issue.
- taffster743 years agoNew Veteran@Bluebellflora Ah, i did not state that Mac users are experiencing the lag issue worse than windows users. What i said was that it appears that Mac and console users are experiencing similar issues. I also said that this was based on a perusal of the the mac and console forums. If you do not wish to follow up for yourself, that is your problem - not mine. There is a big difference between saying "appears" and what you are claiming i said. Here you are making an assumption based on incorrect evidence. Now i am correcting you. Will this response now be deleted because i dared to do so, just like my last post in the bug section dealing with patch 1.88 has been suddenly deleted? If so, then that is a "Helper" taking on a moderator role.
- taffster743 years agoNew Veteran@crinrict why was my previous response to this deleted? In no way did i criticize you or anyone. I simply explained the way people have been addressed/ the assumptions that have been made based on incomplete data and how things are done in the normal world. There was no need to delete the post just because you did not agree with it. That is taking on a moderator role and is not being helpful in the slightest.
- crinrict3 years agoHero+@taffster74 I don't know. I don't delete posts. Again, not a moderator. All I do is merge threads that are the same and move threads that were posted in the wrong forum and edit titles to make them more clear.
I'm guessing someone must have reported it or a CM saw it and removed it. - crinrict3 years agoHero+Since I can't edit atm, double posting: I actually find your post pretty offending. I actually wanted to reply to it and then it was gone.
- taffster743 years agoNew Veteran@crinrict like i said, i never criticized or denigrated anyone in the post. I simply pointed out that making assumptions based on incomplete data is not the cleverest of things to do. Yes, I did ask for proof to confirm assumptions that have been made (AMD compatibility, Windows 10 compatibility) but i was not rude about it. Nor did i threaten anyone, rather i stated that in today's litigious mentality any could sue anyone for anything but that's not a path I personally would take. I think someone - whoever it was - took things a little to far and over exerted their authority. Not good.
- taffster743 years agoNew Veteran@crinrict please define offensive. Is it simply the language difference or something further? You've said in your post on what the bugs forum is about that you would like for people to explain to you if they felt offended by something you may have said. That goes both ways.
- taffster743 years agoNew Veteran
@crinrict , i seem to be getting a number of kudos to my posts, so obviously not everyone is finding what i'm saying offensive. Again, just as you've asked people to let you know if they've taken something you've said the wrong way (offensively) so you can clear the air on the matter, please do me the same courtesy. I can accept that i can come across a bit on the strong side, but I don't deliberately go out of my way to offend people.

This really is not rocket since, but because you are not getting it I will write it out.
Nobody here is saying this problem is anything but a problem with the latest patch.
All @crinrict and others are trying to do is narrow down on which systems and on which hardware this problem occurs so that reproducing the problem becomes easier.
There is no fix if Maxis can't reproduce the isuue. - EA_Cath3 years ago
Community Manager
Hey there @taffster74 ! Jumping on that thread to add some clarification.
Firstly regarding your posts being deleted: if one of your post is being moved for whatever reason, you should receive a private message from someone in the EA team explaining why the post was moved. Just so you know, superusers (Heroes & Champions) don't handle moderation, so if you've any questions regarding a missing message, don't hesitate to reach out to one of the Community Managers here. Also, if you post a very long reply, our Spam filter might accidentally catch it and remove it automatically - if that happens we can restore your post straight away.
As others have stressed out, regular users and superusers do not work for EA and can't promise things such as reporting bugs directly to the studio. I understand though, if you experience a bug that you're nearly sure doesn't come from your end, that it can be frustrating to be asked to provide a DxDiag - however, this concern should be addressed to the EA team and the EA team only, not the Superusers. They are regular users trying to help and provide solutions, and are not expected to provide "good PR" (except if they start being rude or breaching rules obviously!).
Regarding the DxDiags: again, I totally understand it can be frustrating to hear that the issue might be coming from your end when you're 100% sure the bug comes from the game. To raise a bug to the studio, we have to be 100% sure ourselves that the issue doesn't come from the user's side. It's easier for us to ask for a DxDiag straight away before contacting the teams. Because if we are not 100% sure, the studio will likely ask us to confirm that nonetheless. So instead of telling players that we can escalate the issue, and then come back to them to ask for a DxDiag, we prefer to ask for it first before confirming any escalation. This avoids unnecessary back and forth, and can also avoid an escalation if we find any issues within the DxDiag.
This is why you will see a lot of replies asking for DxDiags, and it might seem like everyone is just copying and pasting the same answer, but those are crucial to raise any bugs or move on to the next step, which is the studio escalation. While Superusers can't directly reach out to the studio, they can reach out to the CMs directly, but they know how the escalation process works, hence why they also ask for DxDiag to confirm that the issue is really a global issue. I hope that makes sense?
We appreciate any comments regarding EA officials replies though and are taking those comments into account. I hope my post this clarifies things a little bit. I just want to stress out that non EA official users are volunteers and are doing their best to help other fellow players. It's ok to not be happy with a reply, or to expect a different outcome, but those concerns should be addressed to the EA team and not regular users who are just trying to help, because it is not expecting of them to have PR skills: as long as everyone follows the rules and keeps it friendly.
(also, I'm gonna be moving some of your posts in the lags and freezes thread to this one, in order to keep the other thread focused on tech issues!)
- crinrict3 years agoHero+@taffster74 I find it offensive that you accused me of removing your post without even knowing what happened and put it like I just petty reacted by removing your post.
- taffster743 years agoNew Veteran@crinrict look, I've explained that I never criticized you or anyone. I simply asked you why as you seemed to the one person dealing with the matter. And i ask for clarification. That's all. If you take offense to that, simply pm me and we can discuss this privately. Again, i never criticized you or anyone. I am sorry if you feel i have criticized you. Again, contact me through pm and - hopefully - we can straighten this out.
