putting pets on bed

It would be really nice if my sim could put their pet on the bed. in RL my cat sleeps with me. But it is Extremely difficult to get my sim's cat to do the same. Being able to call a pet onto the bed, or place them there would be very helpful.

In fact, it would be Very nice to be able to asign a side of the bed to a pet. The only reason most of my sims got a two person bed was because I learned pets would sleep with their sim if the bed was big. But so far I've only seen it happen once despite playing for years.

  • It seems to vary depending on the pet. I've seen it quite a lot with cats but not the dogs. I wonder if it depends on the personality traits. So if the pet is Affectionate or Loyal maybe and if the Sim is a Cat Lover.

I'm going to keep an eye out for this in my game as I'm creating a celebrity Sim who rescues cats. I'll create her as a Cat Lover and see if the cats hop up on the bed. It actually would be easier if there was a command in the game, especially since my Sim pets often don't sleep at night, they just stand up until they fall over.

As I say this my cat has kept me awake trying to steal all the space on the bed and I'm bleary-eyed . So I wouldn't want that added to the game lol. The " My cat stole the covers" Moodlet. 😹

@LathyrusLoon , sadly only cats can get on the beds -- dogs cannot get on the beds at all! 😠😭 Which is really strange since in real life many dogs sleep with their owners on the bed!  Mine certainly sleep with me, once they are potty trained and can behave on the bed!  And also, it is weird because the dogs in the game can get up on the couch, so they should be able to also get up on the bed!  It makes no sense!  😓
I don't know if the possibility of cats jumping up on the bed has anything to do with the cat's personality traits or not, like @simsplayer818 suggested.  But that is certainly a possibility! 💡  I have seen it happen many times, but I never really thought about it.

  • I do frequently get cats on the bed - but it doesn't work well for overnight. When the Sim goes to bed and the covers lift the cat sort of just gets swallowed.

Sim cats are so polite. They wake Sims by standing out in the hallway meowing. Meanwhile, my actual cat literally dumped a mug full of cold water on my pillow this morning (I managed to move my head just in time), and has been known to dunk his toys in his water bowl then drop them on my face, or take a flying leap from 3 feet up and land on my stomach...

Just my luck, the celebrity Sim I wanted to test this on adopted 2 strays who were both Aloof. So they're not so cuddly. They prefer to sleep on the most expensive chairs in the house from the Get Famous furniture. They're also shredding them so that's something they have in common with my silver tabby. If he's not scratching furniture to wake me up he's yelling "woowooo" at 3am.

I might get her to rescue another stray and see if it's different depending on the personality. These 2 just acknowledge her when it's time for food. I've made one look like a little leopard and the other look like a little tiger and I wish I could edit the personality traits too.

@PipMenace , well after hearing that, I see your avatar is perfect for you! 🤣😹
@simsplayer818 , I read that as you were saying your cat yells "woohoo"! 🤭🤣🤣🤣  I've been playing too much Sims! 😅

@PugLove888 Rofl! All I hear is woowoo at this time of year as it's Spring Fever season. There's a lot of scampering, howling and climbing the walls and tackling going on.
Actually that gives me a thought about another element of cat life they could have added to the game. As February arrives the cat reacts to the return of plants, pollen and birds and starts bouncing off the ceiling for a couple of months. That would have been a fun addition to the game!

@PugLove888 Yes well... it's also where the screen name comes from. All my standard go-tos were taken, and in desperation trying to think up something that wouldn't be used yet, I went with my cat's nickname: PipMenace. (Original name Pippin)

@simsplayer818 now that would have been wild! 🤪😅 At least they gave us 4 different types of catnip to sort of mimic that!
@PipMenace  I was wondering if your screen name had anything to do with that! 😅 Pippin is a great name for a cat!  😎

@PugLove888 Lol, catnip is a banned substance in my house. I have to check every toy to make sure there is none. Mine likes to reach through the open plan staircase and pat the ceiling with a little paw trying to figure out how to climb up there. I dread to think what catnip would do when he's on the ceiling already!
I still haven't got a cat to sleep on the bed in the game. She's Become Companions with all of them too. But that tip you gave me on another thread about the cats going for a spin on the robot vacs... that's happening all the time now! I noticed yesterday that the little gold vac actually stopped for the cat to climb up and then it took off again with the cat onboard! Of all the tips I've had on here, that tip is my favourite!😹

@simsplayer818 Well, I can see how you wouldn't want catnip in your home then! 🤪😅

Yes, the cats riding the robot vacuum is one of my favorite things in the Sims 4!💖🤣 I'm so happy you are having fun with it! 🥳🙌
