So I'm trying to create a retail store for my sim and she builds robots but I have a problem, the only way I can sell her bots is by the build station. Why can't I set them for sell or put them on platforms... I want to build a whole shop full of different bots...
@firefairy127 Well, I just went on an adventure for hours to answer your question, and I still only have a partial answer. The following is what I did and tested...
I had my 'robotics' skilled Sim family (and their own Servo helped also) make a new Servo.
I did not activate the Servo, and I checked on how they could transport it to a store. I found the (non-activated) Servo cannot go into the Sim's personal inventory, but it can go into the household inventory.
To test with a family that owned a store, I placed this Servo on his robotics station stand and saved them in a room in my library.
Then I went to one of my game saves where a family owns a retail store. I had the store owner go to his store and in build mode I placed the room from my library (with my Servo) onto the store lot, then put the Servo in the store (still not activated) . I got the option to set the Servo for sale:
This option was there whether Servo was standing in the robotics station or if I took him out of the station and free-stood him:
As you can see in the screenshot, I had the store open for 62 Sim-hours, and sole 42 items, yet no one had purchased the Servo yet, and I need to call it a night now.
Also, I checked while on the lot and if I selected the Servo and hit the delete button he did go to my Sim's household inventory (which was accessible in build mode while he was at the store)... so I assume that if your Sim made the robot at home, moved it to the Sim's household inventory, and went to his store, it would be there in build mode in his household inventory so he could add it to the store and choose to 'set for sale'.
I wouldn't be surprised if Servo cannot be just sold in that manner, since he/she cannot be activated without a robotics workstation. I did check, though, and the Sim that activates Servo does not need robotics skill, they just need the workstation to do the activation. And since when does not having all the needed equipment stop someone from buying something? Hahaha...
So... bottom line is I think that if your Servo is deactivated and you either make it on the store lot or use one of these methods to get it from your home lot to the store in the store-owner's household inventory, then set it for sale, I'm assuming customers can purchase it. However, as I mentioned, I never actually made the sale on the Servo in my test, so that remains to be seen. If you do it and one of your Servos sells, I would love to know if you would share this on this thread! Good luck!! 🙌
