Random ash piles appearing & sims stuck, not moving for hours

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.61.15.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Exp.- City Living, Discover University, Get Famous, Seasons GP.- Dine Out, Parenthood SP.- Movie Hangout, Bowling Night, Laundry Day
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Doing any type of action & When sims pick up dishes
What happens when the bug occurs? Sims get stuck for hours not moving unless you reset them & Piles of ashes randomly appears when picking up dishes.
What do you expect to see? No more ashes appearing & no more stuck sims
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Yes
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. The recent University patch

Also sometimes when dishes are left in any random place, ash piles appear as well.

    @AmberNazarene21 Did you test this without mods/cc ?

    Best is to move your mods folder to the desktop, delete the localthumbcache file and then test a fresh save for testing purposes to see if it occurs there too.

    I'm still having this problem and it's July. Has there been any resolution to this? Eve resetting my sims doesn't help much. And it happens mostly in San Myshuno apartments.

    tested with the dishes as OP describes. i can still see this happening on v. 1.65.70.

    @Nijisu I've seen the ash piles appear but it's very rare for me. Never figured out where they come from because they're so rare. I've had a number of full game plays and saves that it's never happened. Rough guess? Maybe 1 playthrough in 10?

    I've always figured the sims not moving is just the standard horrible game lag that gets worse with each pack and update.
