How sad... How is it the folks manning the chat system and their specialist team (that I had to wait 3 hours to talk to) didn't know this? Well thanks for the info. (I'll leave this open for a short time just in case.)

I've tried this yesterday on my own game and yeah, I couldn't get it to work either so I'm pretty sure it's not possible on Sims 4.

Maybe they also got confused with Sims 3. I'm sorry to hear you had to go through all this trouble.  I don't really know how they are organized in details but other players are often better help to gameplay issues like this.

I remember there was a time that game designers would give you an instruction book and a help line. If you really wanted to, they would even walk you through completing games lol. Now it's is it broken? No? OK, then ask the other players. Someone has figured it out by now.

You can expand the stack then drag one item at a time out of it.
