@n0t_floraFor small areas of landscaping I place a room around it first. So if I want to duplicate flowerbeds with sculptures or fountains, lighting for example. It fills in with a concrete base when you do it so I put the walls up first, I use half walls and replace them with fencing or remove them later. I copy them once completed so I have matching outdoor decor and flowerbeds. For terrain I've copied one that I like and then bulldozed the lot but kept the terrain, like the parks that have frog ponds for example, when I wanted that pond in my garden.
I wish that the whole thing was a bit easier though so that we could achieve what you're describing there. Sometimes I lift the house up using Move House as I'm landscaping and then I move it again later. But again that's not what you are wanting to do.
I actually always thought it was just the limitations of playing on console but maybe it's not after all.
