@mathematics654, Thanks for satisfying my curiosity. 🙂 I"m not saying that it would be impossible for EA to do this; I'm just explaining on why they probably decided to go the way they did. 😉 Since different developers worked on different version of the Sims, they are going to have different ideas as to what they think would be for the version of the Sims that they are working on. For example, in TS2 and in TS4 dogs and cats cannot be directly controlled by players … instead, players have to indirectly control pets by controlling their human Sims. This is to mimic how people interact with their pets in real life. 😎 But as you know, in TS3 pets could be directly controlled by the players. This was to enable players to "become" the pet and see the world though their eyes! 🥳 Personally, I prefer the way TS3 did dogs and cats, as I liked viewing the world though their eyes, but most people wanted more realistic gameplay with their pets , as did the developers. But both ways are legitimate and have their good points and bad points. The same goes for allowing or disallowing teens to be able to go to school, work, and join after-school activities. 😉
But just because something was done in a previous version of the Sims, doesn't mean it has to be in the current version. In TS2's University EP there were Secret Clubs ❤️ , but TS3 didn't have these. I really missed the secret clubs (and if we ever get a TS4 University EP I hope they bring back secret clubs!) , but at least TS3's University EP had other aspects that weren't in the TS2 version that I liked. 😇 TS2's University is still my favorite, but that didn't mean I didn't enjoy TS3's version. 🙂
But I think that having your teen make money by gardening is a great idea! :eahigh_file: So is having them own a retail store, or for that matter painting! These ways of making money are much more flexible than a part time job anyway. But I'm sure that there are other people who want teens to have a part-time job and belong to scouts or drama club -- perhaps if EA hears from enough of them, they might make the change to allow both after school activities and a job! 😉 😎
Happy Simming! 🥳

Don't worry, I'm not one of those players that are mad at developers about making changes, it's only my opinion, since I don't think that a work place that is up in the morning fire someone that go to a drama club in the evening (however U never had a job in high school so I might be wrong), I'm happy with everything EA make anyway, it's just my opinion that a work place can't tell someone to quit an activity that isn't in the same time of the job.

@mathematics654, that's alright! 🙂 I guess I never looked at it from the perspective of a boss firing a person for joining an afterschool activity -- instead I looked at it as if either the boss just wouldn't hire someone with a busy schedule or as if the parents wouldn't' allow their teen child to have such a heavy workload! 😃
I had a job in high school, but really only during Summer vacation, the Thanksgiving weekend, Christmas break, and Spring Break! 😎 I tried to have an after school job during school for 2 weeks and all I could think of was how much homework I had left for me when I got home! 🤒 So I stopped after 2 weeks! :eahigh_file: There was a program at my school for getting out of school early for the purposes of work, but I didn't want to do that either since I really enjoyed high school. 🤓😃
