Re: Can't talk to other sims since 7/23/2024 update

@zappnickel  Please test in a clean user folder.  Move the entire Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop, and when you launch the game, a clean folder will spawn with no content.  (Your saves and other content will be intact in the folder you moved but temporarily not read by the game.)  Don't add anything to the new folder yet; just start a new save and see whether the sims can talk to each other.

If the new save is fine, try an existing save, moved to the new folder, still with no mods or custom content.

@Ambyykitty  If the game works as normal with none of your user content (saves, cc, etc.), but does not work once you've added those files back in, then the problem is those files.  Start with your mods and custom content; here's a list of known broken mods after this patch:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/Mods-CC-Issues/Broken-Obsolete-and-Updated-Sims-4-Mods-1-108-July-23-2024-Game/td-p/13891143

Anything not on the list, you'll need to test yourself.  Use the 50/50 method if you have a lot of files to go through.

Once you've done that, you can transfer the contents of saves, Tray (saved households and builds), Screenshots and Recorded Videos if you care about those, plus the UserSetting.ini file for the login rewards.  The rest can be discarded.

Wait sorry I am a little confused with the tut, so even if the new file works, how is it gaurenteed that it'll work once i put the existing folder back? Also, where do I put my saved folder after remving it from documents?

@allygg1244  You're not putting any existing folder back.  You're transferring some files from the old Sims 4 folder to the new one.

The order of operations is this, from the beginning:

    • Move the existing Sims 4 folder out of Documents > Electronic Arts and onto your desktop
    • Launch the game, which creates a new Sims 4 folder
    • Test in the new save
    • IF the new save is fine, test your mods and custom content, and only those files (and only some at a time), in the new folder
    • Update or discard any mods or cc that cause problems
    • Copy the contents—just the files, not the folders they're in—of saves, Tray, etc. from the old Sims 4 folder to the new one

If you're still confused, please start the process and see where you get, then describe the step that's a problem and why.
