Re: Connect a child/underage account to my account as a family member

How on earth do you add a game to a child's account??? I have been going in circles all over the help pages and found exactly NOTHING that will let me add a game to a child account that is associated with my account.

Both will be playing on PC. I see that I am supposed to redeem a code in order to load a game. I cannot obtain that code in any way that I have found. I'm trying to add Sims 4, which is free. When I try to download the game, I am told to download the app. I already HAVE the app. When I go into the app to find the game, I am told I need the code. I cannot GET the code unless I buy the game. YOU CANNOT BUY THE GAME.

What on earth am I doing wrong here?

  • @Keijra  In theory, you should be able to add a free game from within the child's account.  In practice, this might not work, so if you've already tried it, the only other move is to contact EA customer support and ask that the game be added manually.  A support rep would be able to do this, so if they initially decline, it's worth being polite but persistent.  I'd strongly recommend live chat as well.  If you're not seeing it, try this link:

    https://help.ea.com/en/help-contact-us/?product=the-sims-4&platform=&topic=missing-game&category=manage-my-account&subCategory=find-missing-game

Make sure you're signed into an EA site (this one is fine) before clicking the link and that the location in the lower-right corner of the browser window is set to U.S. or U.K.

Sorry to bring this up again, but I can't find any help about this.

What I've done so far is this:

    1. Try contacting EA help with an e-mail. Didn't work. I send the request, they ask for some information/confirmation, I respond with the confirmation/information and then: Sorry, we can't read your e-mail, if need help, contact us. Four times already. I have an Yahoo Mail account, maybe this is the issue here?
    2. The game is FREE!
    3. The option about live chat is NEVER shown to me. I'm in a different time zone, but I've tried by morning, afternoon, night, late night and the option never shows or simply didn't work.
    4. Oh, and when I "recover" My Case and try to add something, the system makes a new case, which is closed soon after as "this case is similar to one already open".

So, I simply do not know how to proceed. And I find incredible that is absurdly complicated to add a FREE GAME! This should be a simply as: please, send me a code, here is the code. Again, IT IS A FREE GAME!!!

Sorry about the rambling, but I feel really lost.

Thanks in advance for any help provided.

@chicaoterror  You'll need to contact EA customer support again, unfortunately, but this time, I'd suggest linking this post from EA_Solaire:

    https://answers.ea.com/t5/General-Discussion-Feedback/Connect-a-child-underage-account-to-my-account-as-a-family/m-p/13368537#M82213

I'd also suggest using live chat rather than email.  If you don't see the option, try this link:

    https://help.ea.com/en/help-contact-us/?product=the-sims-3&topic=missing-game&category=manage-my-account&subcategory=find-missing-game

Make sure you're signed into an EA site (this one is fine) before clicking the link and that the location in the lower-right corner of the browser window is set to U.S. or U.K.

    @kukulux  Please see the above.

    Hi.

Thank you very much. The link for the live chat worked and my child can finally play.

Just to give a feedback, it worked for me.

    Thanks again.

    Sincerely.
