Re: Desktop for Sims 4 on ultra settings
@victoriawoho I took a look at the custom build site you linked and put together some reasonably-priced components that would work. I picked the cheapest good quality hardware that would work, so these aren't the absolute highest level components in their categories, just ones that you can expect to perform exactly as intended.
I also didn't pick out a case, in part because it's a personal decision to some extent: you're the one who's going to be looking at it, not me. But it would also be good to contact the store and double-check that the components all fit in the case, and swap it out for another one if they don't. Decent cases start around 400 kr on this site.
So here's a list of the components I'd pick for your budget range:
- Motherboard: Asus Prime B360M-C (799 kr)
- Processor: Intel i5-9400F (1 719) or i5-9600KF (2 149)
- CPU cooler: be quiet! Pure Rock Slim (299)
- Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 2666 MHz 8 GB (449) or 16 GB (749)
- Graphics card: MSI 1650 Super Ventus XS OC (2 190)
- Storage: Kingston A2000 500 GB NVMe SSD (890)
- Power supply: Corsair CX550M 80+ Bronze (899)
- Windows 10 Home: the only option offered (1 490)
- the option to custom build (699)
This also doesn't include a monitor, keyboard, or mouse, so if you're trying to fit those into your budget, you'd be significantly over.
If you added a case, you'd come out to almost exactly 10 000 kr for the computer itself, even with the lower-end processor, 8 GB RAM, and a slower graphics card than the one in the Lenovo. The tradeoff is that the parts would be higher quality, but whether that's worth the higher price tag is your call. The only place you could save any significant money without compromising on quality is by finding a cheaper Windows 10 key (legitimate ones are out there) and installing Windows yourself.
