The Grim Reaper won't leave my lot

The Grim Reaper came and reaped my butler who died of old age. After the reaping the Grim Reaper hasn't left, and I am unable to interact with him. If I try to all it has is the interactions reap and challenge to spare life which is greyed out and says, 'one does not plead with dead before the reaping.' I have already tried resetting both by shift clicking and doing it by cheat, but both don't work. I have also tried killing a sim on lot to try and reset it, I have also left the lot and came back, exited and came back, as well as teleporting grim to another sim off lot but he still does not leave.  How do I get grim to leave?
