Re: exit from the game when entering a section with rounded walls

@an_reedus Thank you for your reply. I put your reply into 'Google translate' and this is the translation I got. Please let me know if it is incorrect:

Spoiler
Thanks for the answer! The game crashes even when loading a section with round walls. Tried with and without mods. And on a clean new game. The result is one crash when loading a section. The game has been updated to the latest version. I have a favorite house with round walls and furniture Modern Luxury House 68.zip you can find it by typing the name in GOOGL. Since the release of "For Rent" I can no longer enter it. I evicted characters from it, still crashes. I demolished the section and reinstalled it, still crashes.

I looked up the lot and placed it in my game to test. I found that:

  • Just a note... the lot did take a long time to place, and the zip file size is 387KB.
  • I tried placing the lot in my game. After 20-25 minutes of 'building the lot' that never finished (and I have a strong computer), I opened the 'Activity Monitor' on my computer. It didn't say Sims was 'not responsive', yet I had to 'force quit' from there to close it.
  • I then tested placing my high school (this is the only lot I've built with round walls) in a game save. (Note, because the lot is a high school and is 64x64, to place it you have to own the high school pack and enter the high school lot in build mode, then go to the gallery and choose to place the high school lot (If you want to try what I did to test it.) My high school is named Rockridge Academy of Arts and is in the gallery (SheriGR) Note: When I placed this large high school lot in my test save today, I think it only took about a minute or two to place - as compared to my test with the lot that's troubling you.
  • Also, I did test saving one of the rooms that has round walls except one straight side from the high school and placing two copies of the room on a new lot to create a round room, then tested with and without a Sim owning it (as a residential lot), and the round walls behaved normally for me.

So... I'm wondering if there is something in that lot that conflicted with new coding &/or packs that came out since the time you were using it normally? Perhaps others will test this lot and see if they find it will load in their game and get a different theory for you, but I'm thinking perhaps this lot is just not working properly now?

If you want to test the lot I mentioned above, or make your own round room home in your game, I hope you may find that this may work for you? I hope that if this lot (Modern Luxury House 68) that you have placed in your game is not working properly for you it may only be affecting that one lot, but just in case it's affecting anything else in your game save, I would do this test this in a new game save if I were you.

I look forward to hearing what your test results are.

EDIT: @MapleSimmer just helped me out with a link to a Bug Report that may be of use to you in testing the issue on your lot:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-Endless-Loading-Crashing-when-trying-to-load-a-certain-lot/td-p/13326793 Please check especially the notations that @crinrict made on the report about possible causes in the testing process.

EDIT 2: Have your run a game repair after removing the Mods folder to the desktop and removing the cache file mentioned in the spoiler tag below?

Spoiler
Testing with a fresh Mods folder and removing the localthumbcache.package file:
Exit the game. Move the Mods folder from your "The Sims 4" folder [Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 4] to your desktop (save it for reference) and delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder. Then check in a new game save to see if this issue is still occurring. You can test without saving in order to identify which CC/Mods are causing the issue. Then remove or add updated version(s) of the Mod/CC causing the issue.

Repairing the game:
• In EA App, click "My Collection", then look under the three dots, and choose 'Repair'.
• Let it run until it has completed all repairs. It will do the base game first, then run through each of your DLCs (Expansion Packs, Game Packs, Stuff Packs and Kits).
