So what you are saying is even if we bought the PACKS on ps4 and have it connected to our ORIGIN account we lose ALL of the PACKS we BOUGHT on ps4? We are NOT asking if they are cross plat form we want to know if SIMS 4 is being money greedy. Why would anyone want to BUY ALL the PACKS again if they already did ONCE.

@FallenRavenBlood, what few people realize is that having the Sims on consoles is a collaboration between 3 companies, EA, Sony, & Microsoft. TS4 was out for years before it was available for consoles. People who had the game on discs for the PC/Mac still wouldn't' be able to use those on consoles anyway! 😞 Only downloaded games would work. Also, since so many people already had the game on PC, it would have been disastrous for Sony PS4 and Microsoft Xbox if the PC/Mac games would be directly available on consoles. They would loose tons of money, and would never have agreed to such a collaboration in the first place. Therefore TS4 would never have been available on consoles. The best that could happen would have been a separate console game that would bear the same name, but not actually be the same game (as had been done in the past with TS2 and TS3). But the actual TS4 wouldn't be on consoles, as it wouldn't be fair to Sony and Microsoft .
Also, I think many people figured that if someone who owned an Xbox of PS4 wanted to paly on a computer, they would have done so already, when the game was only available on computer. Many assumed that console players just didn't want to play on a computer in the first place.🤨 The game was out for several years, so they had plenty of opportunity to do so. Many people thought that having TS4 on consoles was opening up the world of the Sims to people who would never want to play on a computer in the first place. So that console players now want to play on a PC after they can play on a console (and not before when they couldn't ) is puzzling to many people. 🤔
you have to remember the price difference on a gaming pc and a console i started on xbox because it was the most affordable option at the time and i purchased all of the sims 4 dlcs on xbox now that i have grown and matured i have been able to get the money to afford a gaming pc which can be 2 to 3 times more expensive so what you are saying is there is no way to transfer all of the dlcs from my xbox to my pc? So i must buy all of them again?

@Mikabug707, yes, you would have to buy them all again. That is the way that a lot of media is.🤨 I have a vinyl album from one of my favorite bands that I purchased when I was 12 , and had to get a copy in a cassette tape, and then buy one in a CD, and then MP3... it goes on and on. The same exact album , but if I want to access them on different platforms, then I have to buy the music on media for all those platforms I want to play it on.😞 Such is life! 😢
- @PugLove888 Yes well it is frustrating but i guess that does make sense thank you!

Yeah true. But I just got a new PC as a surprise and now I want all the packs to transfer onto my PC because you can get cc also.
- @PugLove888 But can you transfer it to Mac to ps4?
@snobbybrit66 @mindsfried Sorry, but as stated, the games are platform specific. PC/Mac games will not transfer to Console and vice-versa.
If I log in to another console with the same account do I still get my expansion packs on the Sims 4?

@jarodrohrbach23 Any packs you purchased on your account can be redownloaded on a different console using your account provided they are the same platform you purchased the game and packs in. Meaning PC to PC, Xbox to Xbox, or PS4 to PS4 will transfer.
1 CD to 700$+ on expansion packs over 6 or so years. a bit different
No, sir. You're talking hardware and here we're discussing software. The equivalent would be buying an album digitally in itunes to play it on your Mac PC and then having to buy it again in iTunes to play it on your Windows PC. They develop the application (the game), they can definitely make it work in any system. They just didn't do this so you HAVE to spend more money... Period. Many online games allow you to carry items over different platforms, TS4 just doesn't. That's all. Greedy dirty tactics...
EXACTLY. It's ridiculous
- @PugLove888 Some people WAMTED to play TS4 on PC, but simply didn’t have the means to. I know because I’m one of them. I did not have the money to buy a gaming pc and/or the game. Now that I do, I would like to have the packs which I bought. I think it is reasonable enough for packs to carry from console to PC, but not the other way around.
Well, the obvious answer is obvious. Money.
From a tech standpoint, it wouldn't be so hard for EA to say "Hey, you have Sims 4 for PC already, so we'll give you everything you already have on Xbox/Ps4!" Now before anyone cries that I'm picking on poor, pitiful EA, most game companies do this. EA is just egregiously greedy overall, so they're an easy target.
But wouldn't it give them more money long-term? It would build up proper trust in the people buying and would encourage them to buy more on both sides knowing that it would transfer.
I agree with you. Neither of us can possibly ever understand the inner workings of the corporate mentality, alas.
Yeah, that would make sense if it was physical media. This is all digital media, there's literally no reason that it shouldn't be cross platform compatible. If I can get Games and DLC to transfer and Upgrade from PS4 to PS5, it should be no different from PS4 to a PC!
@ZeldaFreak81590 The reason is money. EA has to split the profits from console sales with Microsoft or Sony, and EA wants its full cut for the PC version. And Microsoft and Sony aren't going to forego their cuts if someone wants to start playing on console, nor will EA pay the companies to offer the player the ability to do so.
Well it’s weird that I bought a expansion pack for my gaming pc, when I downloaded sims 4 on my Xbox the pack transferred over which doesn’t make any since…
ea are so cash grabby
- sleepyerin3 years agoSeasoned TravelerIf you bought the album, repeatedly, you were doing it all wrong. 😉 The problem is that DLC works with Xbox cloud gaming. The ability is there. It’s a money grab, as if they haven’t made hand over fist with the hundreds in dlc players buy.
so are console platforms.
Can my sims 4 expansion packs be transferred from Xbox 1 to a new Xbox?
Yes you can do that easily. Don't do a factory reset on your previous Xbox yet.
Go to your original Xbox and press the central Xbox button on your controller then choose profile+system>settings> system>back up+transfer> network transfer and you'll see a tick box for Allow network transfer, tick the box.
Then sign in to your new Xbox console and do the same thing. You should see your old Xbox shown, select that and you'll be able to copy it's contents.
Once you're sure you've got everything transferred over, that's when it's safe to do a factory reset on your old console if you're selling or rehoming it.
Enjoy your new Xbox!
