Re: [FR] shared fridge inventory?

@IrisuChan I just tried in my duplex and nothing from one family is included in the inventory of the other home for me. You said that this isn't going on in other rental lots in your game? I guess it could be possible that this particular lot - or even the refrigerator(s) in the rental have become bugged? I would start by trying the following:

  • Make sure your game is fully updated.
  • Run a game repair: (directions in spoiler tag if you need them):
    Spoiler
    • In Origin (EA App), click ‘Game Library’ (or "My Collection"), then right-click Sims 4 (or look under the three dots), and choose Repair Game (or 'Repair')
    • Let it run until it has completed all repairs. It will do the base game first, then run through each of your DLCs (Expansion Packs, Game Packs, Stuff Packs and Kits).
  • If you still see the issue on this lot, you could try moving the refrigerator contents that belong to each family (if you know for sure it belongs to one particular family) into their personal inventories or household inventories, delete any items in the refrigerators that you are not sure who owns them, then delete all refrigerators on both sides of the duplex. Save the lot, leave the game, then delete the localthumbcache.package file in your “The Sims 4” folder. Then re-enter the lot and add a brand new refrigerator on each side. See if you have the issue still.
  • If the issue persists after the above are done, you could try saving the lot (home) to your library and placing it on another lot, then test the lot with another two families and see if it works properly for them. If it works properly for them in the new location, you could try moving your families into the home in the new location and see if it works for them there. If it does, you can bulldoze the original lot that's acting buggy.

@SheriGR  thank you so much for your reply and advice. So I did exactly what you suggested; repaired the game, removed the inventory items, gave both units a new fridge, but unfortunately the bug persisted. Tried the lot in another world and it worked, even with the same two sims. Halfway through my efforts, Windenburg (the original lot place) became buggy and wouldn't load anymore (I read elsewhere on this site that this is a bug many experience now?). I went back to an old save, which luckily gave me access again to Windenburg. I removed the rental lot entirely and placed it in Brindleton Bay with my two sims that were meant to live in the units. I deleted the sims that had been living in the buggy rental and re-placed the same sims from my gallery as new sims without any inventory. In the new lot at Brindleton Bay, things seem to work fine. I guess that one specific lot in Windenburg ("The Summer Home" 40x30) might be buggy. No clue. It was hell to test everything and see, and it took ages. It works now, but I lost a bit of my motivation to play as it took me around 2 hours to test everything out. 😂 but in any case: thank you for your help!!! I'm very glad it wasn't my lot that caused the bug.

@IrisuChan Awesome job of testing and getting to the bottom of it! I would keep a backup, on your computer or in better yet a flash/external drive, of the the save that works for you now, to roll back to if the issue should re-occur. If the issue rises again you may want to checkout the workaround and chat at this bug report: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/WORKAROUND-Lot-in-World-corrupts-Map-doesn-t-load-anymore/m-p/13299392#M263688

If it sounds like what happened in your game, originally then while testing it, you could add an 'XP' and click "Me Too" on the report. Thanks for your reply and hard work, and I'm so glad you were able to get back in your game, and in the lot you want to use. 🙌
