If you have the add candles interaction missing, move the cake around a bit and make sure it's the only item on the counter. There's currently a bit of a bug with that

  • I'm so confused. I did this and lit the candles but I don't have an option for my sim to blow out candles? And the age is ready..

There's currently a bug with the cake.

Try moving the cake to another surface

Not sure if you’ve managed to do it by now but once you have added the candles click on the cake again and go to more options and click help blow out candles.
  • If it is a child, once the cake has candles on it (an adult must add the candles) make the child select "help with candles" or something like that. Then the child and whatever adult you select will blown out the candles, and your child/toddler will age up. Hope I helped!

I can't age my toddler up at all, and I just threw her a big birthday party for the purpose.  Very disappointing!  She didn't get the 'help with candles' option, just one that said 'age up', which only displayed the portraits of the adults at the party.  I didn't want to age any of them up, so it was a bit of a bust all round...  Any suggestions about what to do?  She can't stay three for ever.

You need to use an adult to blow out the candles for toddlers. Did you try that ?
  • Ah, thank you.  I did try, but her father wouldn't co-operate; he kept putting her down again before I could do it.  I'll have words with him!  Thanks a lot for answering.

Children could blow out candles before, but now they aren't even showing any options for the kids to age up!
