Re: Oh, hey! PlantSims!

Yeah, a plant sim as Gardener would fit, especially if all the goals are gardening things. Maybe I will try too, I only hate that a plant sim has a forced short hair. I really dislike this and rather used the ice cream from cool kitchen stuff because they don’t get this short hair.

Anyway, I hope you and the other which try this challenge have fun. This is the only point what is important, and maybe we will get sometime a better/real plant sim if people like this sim state.

    @daikoyu

    I also played it completely vanilla while trying to test something for the bug forums. I did have a lot of fun! and it saved my sanity while watching cats to see if they were going into heat or not.  😉

    I think PlantSims would be a great option for people who were doing a Rags to Riches.  They don't need a kitchen or a toilet.  Here's her little house, LOL:

    (It's basically a greenhouse with a bed and a camping shower and pet gear. Sadly, she cannot photosynthesize in her greenhouse.)

    Free advice for anyone doing this scenario:

    • Choose a sunny world. We went to the beach in Sulani during thunderstorms because I foolishly chose Henford-on-Bagley.
    • Make a greenhouse or choose a plant without seasons (avocado?) or two to plant.
    • Plant one of your Forbidden Fruits. (It also has no seasons.)
    • Fertilize, fertilize, fertilize with things worth at least $25.
    • Get bees immediately.
    • Micro homes give you double plant growth. Also use the great soil lot trait.
    • Choose a couple of cheaper plants that are your "absorb solar energy" plants and leave the rest alone. Travel instead, if you can.
    • I picked Henford-on-Bagley for a reason that paid off: Our bird friends gave us a golden treat, so we now have a golden chicken. That said, well, she's busily upgrading Magnificent plants, so if I was patient I would have gotten perfect plants anyway, so if I were going to do it again I'd do it in Oasis Springs or Sulani.

    I might play with PlantSims more often. They don't have a lot of special abilities that other Sims don't have, but not needing a kitchen or toilet is an advantage. I've only ever played with PlantSims in the save where they're disgustingly rich and have a huge fancy kitchen and kids, and the plant-obsessed gardener wife becomes a PlantSim occasionally, and you know how when you have multiple Sims you're less likely to travel unless you have something for the whole family to do because otherwise it's like "Yes, I'm going to the beach to photosynthesize and you're going to do your homework and school project there..." (Bummer! lol)

    I'm glad I didn't decide to buy the Super Green Thumb reward trait to help myself, because THAT'S the reward!

    Thanks for the detailed report, especially for the vanilla report! (Good to know you get the reward super green thumb, I thought you only get points for finisch scenarios)

    I hope the team will rework plant sims or that we can just change the hairstyle and it will be permanent occult without the need to consume the fruit all (5) days?

    Side Note: Your Sim has adorable cats!

    @daikoyu

    Because tiny homes have a double positive moodlet duration, we had almost ten days on a single fruit. 😀

    (Yes, kitties! 😻😻 thank you!)

    I did see a couple of people on YouTube fail the scenario because they didn’t notice that their Sim’s PlantSim buff had worn off, so I jumped when hers wore off and had her eat another fruit. You can just eat endless Forbidden Fruits if you plant one to get a regular supply…

    Thanks for letting us know you can plant the fruit to get more. I only moved to sims4 (from sims3) in 2020 really. I missed the whole challenge with plantsims the first time round.

    @rmsimmer  Yeah, I missed that challenge, too, and discovered the PlantSim thing completely by accident. (Patchy gifted my Sim an "inspired bean" and I looked it up online to see what it was.) I've gotten all the beans in 3 different saves by spam-opening rare seed packets, and found a Forbidden Fruit in a dumpster in Evergreen Harbor during a Rags to Riches "diving for meals." ("Dive for meals" is gross-sounding and you find a lot of disgusting spoiled food but sometimes you find rare plants!) So I've grown the forbidden fruit a lot but only really played with a PlantSim in one previous save. (My dive-for-meals Sim who found a fruit was already occult so she couldn't use it, but we planted it. The fruits are worth $250 apiece, so that helped.)

    If you have Island Living, I think that would be the best place for a PlantSim to live because swimming replenishes both hunger and water at the same time. I used to have my OG PlantSim gardener play in the fountain for a similar reason as well.

    This is great advice. I have completed all the tasks except  harvesting a perfect plant and I feel like I have been playing forever.

    Ah awesome! I'm just about to launch this! Was so excited when I first saw this was a scenario option I hope it hasn't gone away yet. Plant sims are so interesting and I love gardening in the sims. I can't remember when I last had a family that didn't garden! I bet the scarecrow can help a bit with this too

    Well don't take any brief breaks from eating the forbidden fruit like I did as without warning the scenario complete screen popped up and said I'd completed it.

    After the effects of the first fruit wore off I took a quick break before he ate another one as he lives in Cordelia's Secret Cottage and was trying to befriend foxes and rabbits but they kept getting a plantsim thought bubble and a negative reaction to his attempts to speak to them. So while he was human I wanted to make some furry friends and then eat another fruit.

    All I had left to do was the perfect plant task.

    Strangely enough though, it's left him with generally high needs. He doesn't need as much sleep or food. It's as if he's used the Seldom Sleepy reward as he doesn't tire quickly now and he only needs breakfast and nothing else till the next morning. And he did plant a lot of crops while he was a plantsim.
