Re: Playing multiple families in sims 4

Yep, save the game and go to the menu. In the top right hand of the start screen, click the + icon for New Game. This should create a new world with default Sims, which you can play without progressing the various Sim families in your main world.

THANK YOU SOOO MUCH YOU ARE A GOD!!

  • This solution is great for multiple people (real people) having their own games when playing Sims 4. It does not work for my gaming purposes. I would like to be able to play generations of a family, separated into different households, without losing progress. When I played the adult children of my chosen family then went back to the original household, the mom had lost all her work performance and was on the verge of being fired. That is what needs to be fixed in this game.

Yeah there doesn’t seem to be an option to put the progress of other families on hold.

The only workaround I can imagine is to save the families you’re leaving to the library and replace the “advanced version” with the version from the library when you like to continue. At least the skills of the sims are saved in the library. Haven’t fully tested this though.

I've just started playing, and as with my sims3 I like to move throughout the different branches of my family and give them a hand. I didn't mind them progressing. I don't seem to be able to find a way to do it on my sims 4.

Go to your menu, select game options and turn off Auto-aging for non-active sims.  Note: this will also halt aging on your townies, but if you're wanting to halt progression outside your house, they would need to be maintained anyhow.

I have done this but I think time still moves on they just don't age so what I was wondering if they miss work while your in your other household will they lose there job?

I have aging off for my sims and for the others in their game/world/community. I do find, as you said, that there is a feel of some time having passed... but almost a 'neutral' type of time. I have never had my sims in the household lose a job in the time I did not play them, but I have popped in to find a couple were 'late for work' and just loafing around the house, or they have some odd 'festival ' garb on or some other indicator that they are up to some sort of shenanigans while I was away, but nothing major that would be a game changer, from what I can tell. I assume this may be for the purpose of not letting me just assign a job and expect to come back and they are at the top of their field or something. I find the job, school, etc. seems to somewhat 'maintain' but not progress while I am not playing the game. Even the garden I play will not mature while I am not playing. In the other hand, It does not dry up and die while I am not playing that household. Fair enough.

I expect that if you have the aging on for the game/world/community, while you are not playing a household all bets are off...

@Kayraa22 In the game options in the game you are playing (initial load screen after you have chosen which 'game' you are playing - once you are seeing your 'worlds'), click on the three dots on the top right of the screen and choose 'Game Options' then 'Gameplay'. There you are able to choose 'Auto Age' for played and unplayed (others you are not currently playing) Sims. If you make the Unplayed Sims not on Auto Age, nothing important seems to happen while you are not playing any particular household, as far as I can tell, and they should not age either while you are not playing the household. At lease that is my experience.
