Re: Sims 4 infinite loading screen

im sorry if this is a stupid question but I feel I'm doing this wrong. i had to copy past my sims 4 folder onto an external drive (didn't have room on my PC to put it on the desktop) and I only played one family in one save (switched active households between parent and the kids).

the part I guess I'm confused on is: I've made a new save (after putting the sims4 folder on external and following the other instructions the best I was able) and it seemed to work fine so I was preparing to add it back in the original save files but the saves all have the same names, am I meant to make a new folder in the new saves to put my old files back in or replace?? I'm so sorry if this is a stupid question. Troubleshooting is *not* my strong point and I get confused easily.

  • @JMoldypotato You copy-pasted the folder? Then you didn't remove anything from the original folders or create anything new - that require *moving* the original folder or deleting it - so there's no moving back to do.

When the new game worked, was it with an empty Mods folder?

Also, when in your previous save did you have an infinite loading screen?

The mods folder was empty yes!

As for the infinite loading, its has happened a few times to me, but its always happens when I suppose leaving the lot? the first time my game wasn't saving (error code 0 I believe it had said) and my sims were all frozen but looking around (the game was unpaused) as well as a problem occurring with the switching between active sims. so I tried to go to manage worlds w/o saving since that was broken at that time and I was in the infinite loading. it happened again and all was the same aside from i was able to save now. so when my sims began freezing and the UI began to act funny again i tried to save and quit the save finished and when it tried to go to the main menu it sorta just sat there looking at my house instead. it was def frozen cuz i gave it a long time to process before force-closing it.

the save infinite loading seems to be the one that I've gotten to happen several times now, it also only seems to happen when playing in the parents' house?? i played with one of the children when the parents weren't working and i didn't seem to encounter the freezing sims, UI problems, or infinite loading. Im not 100% pos on that statement however since i had to play the parents for several hrs before smth bugged and i didn't play the kid's house for quite that long since encountering this bug.
