Recreating and exact copy of a sim with all traits, achievements, careers etc.

Hello. I have been playing a "rags to riches" challenge with a sim. I got him to the top of the military career, got a bunch of aspirations completed and my storyline is going along great. He was a homeless nectarholic who inherited a broken-down container home from his uncle (who died mysteriously) in Strangerville. So I completed the SV storyline first. He likes cooking so I sent him off to University with loans to get a degree in culinary arts but then he joined the military and got all the way to the top. In his off time, he completed the Nerd Brain aspiration. So he builds his own rocket and goes into space. The next part of his story is that he is supposed to go to Batuu and complete one of his aspirations there. However, for two days now, doing every test I can think of, I cannot get him to complete any of the missions. He hands them in which throws a Last Exception Error.  In my last attempt, I started a new Vanilla save, downloaded him from the gallery to make sure any and all connection to my other save was stripped out, and tried it again with all three factions. I got the same result every time. I did the same thing on a new sim and had no problem whatsoever. Clearly, my sim is broken somehow. Is there any way to create an exact copy of my sim so all of those things I worked hard to complete on him stay intact? Using a gallery version didn't work ☹️

Ah yes. My bug report is included in that thread. I think I will remove all his reward traits (in a copy of course) and see if he can complete it. Thanks for the info. Appreciate the help!

  • @whubble1817 Hi!  Sorry you had trouble with that bug.  Your sim has such an interesting story!  To answer your question, you can take your sim to CAS (or go to manage worlds and then go to manage households to edit) then save the household to your library. Whenever you save a sim, they will retain all traits, career progression, aspiration progression, skills, degrees, and money.  This does not include any story progression, like completing the SV story. (I haven't played with JTB much so I don't know if faction progression is retained but I doubt that.)  The sims will not retain any relationships or inventory items.  I do find it helpful when I want to start a new game but don't want to completely start from square one, like you said.  I usually add a note to the description to help me know what they have when I save them; example "This sim has many traits, many level 10 skills, X amount of money and so-and-so degree."  Note that if you have multiple sims in a household, they will all be saved with the progress I mentioned above.  If you decide to start a new game and remove any sims from the household, the money goes back to the standard $20,000 but they will still have the other progress.  Hope this helps!
