RoM Potions for humans?

Are the RoM potions - specifically the immortality potion - functional with humans? I hesitate to say mortals as technically Spellcasters are but the potions do work on them. Have I just had the extraordinary bad luck of repeated failed potions (ghostly side effect on multiple sims during multiple attempts) or are they not compatible with non-supernatural sims?

@XDelphii, I could be wrong but I think they are supposed to work on regular Sims as well as Spellcasters.  At least I think that was the intent....however it seems as if this potion might be bugged! 😢  https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/NEEDS-SAVES-ROM-Sims-dying-of-old-age-despite-immortality-potion/m-p/8227835

And it is bugged for Spellcasters (not just ordinary Sims) as well! If you scroll down to @aldans1985, post you will see a workaround for the bug.  However, EA is looking for save files where this bug has occurred.  They really need more info in order to solve the problem. 🤨  So if you try this potion and it doesn't work, please consider sharing your save file with with SimGuru Nick!

@XDelphii @PugLove888 is correct on the potions.   All of the potions work on all the sim forms, human and occult.  I've used most of them with aliens, vampires and regular humans as well as with spellcasters.  I don't have any mermaids atm but since they work on the other occults, they should work for them too.  I haven't tried the immortality potion on any sims though.  I haven't needed to since I just reset them to the beginning of their current life state by using the rejuvenation potion so they don't age up to the next life state if I don't want them to.  Now there is a risk to a lot of the potions and they will backfire from time to time sometimes with amusing results and other times it's uh-oh, how do I fix this fast.  For instance, when the rejuvenation potion backfires, it fills the age bar up and says the sim's birthday is the next day.  Others may give you a curse and or turn you into a ghost for a while.  Even the excellent potions will do it once in a while.

@XDelphii  If you don't want played sims to age and die when you're not playing them, there is a way to have them not age in the gameplay options menu just in case you don't know about it.  I have aging off for them so it doesn't happen in my game.

  • Thanks guys for your responses. I was hoping it would work as intended as at some point I’ll be boosting it with Zero’s mod for true immortality - I had hoped the immortal potion would freeze ageing entirely. As it is I’ve established a workaround using MCC to flag the individuals as immortal. The reason I haven’t just gone for the simple ‘turn off ageing’ setting is because I’m playing an RP style save with multiple supernaturals and immortals (designed as non game supernaturals like demons) so I want the adults and elders to remain frozen in age but the teens and children to gradually age to YA then freeze into immortality, while other mortal sims age and die naturally. Which could theoretically be plausible using the setting, which I’m a bit rusty on, but I’m not entirely sure. But since I think my MCC plan is working at the moment, problem kind of solved!

@XDelphii, glad your problem is solved enough to your liking! 🙂  Other than that, the only other thing I can say is that since we have a new Stuff Pack (Tiny LIving SP) coming out in about a week, there wil be a new patch before that, and it might fix some issued like the Immortality potion! 🤞😇

@XDelphii  I use the MCCC immortality option too and it works perfectly.  I made the 3 sages that came with ROM immortal and it's probably been 5 or 6 generations ago.  Although I did have to move them to the playables/not in world section of manage households to keep the game and MCCC from moving them into a lot after it happened to one of them.  As an experiment, I also made the hermit in the Deep Woods immortal (she's an elder) at the same time but haven't been back there yet to see it the game will give me the same hermit again.  I just got tired of getting a new hermit every time so I want to see if the game reuses her or just generates a new one every time.
