Romantic Satisfaction rapidly declining while away from partner

I enrolled my sim into university, and almost immediately my partner became very unsatisfied with our relationship. I assume this is because I wasn't giving her enough attention or something? It was literally the first day of classes and I had made sure to spend time with her before I left. I invited her over after my first class so we could socialize and every interaction just worsened our relationship because of how unsatisfied she was. Once she left it just kept on decaying too. Our relationship went from "Soulmates" to "Just Good Friends" over the course of a single day. If this is intended behavior, which I'm hopping it isn't, it is HORRIBLY balanced. What kind of toxic relationship is this that going to university drops everything that hard? Idk if I'm just doing something wrong, but this seems like an awful thing to happen. I don't have the time or money to go to counseling or have consistent dates with classes going on. It does make sense to be annoyed with a lack of interactions, but a day? One day? Need I reiterate; it's been a day. 0% romance.
