Second Floor Flooring Turned Invisible

So I have been remodeling a house in Strangerville, and am all done with the structure itself and was in the decorating process, but then I noticed that the floor upstairs is missing! I figured out that the floor itself wasn't deleted since I tried placing the walls again to bring them back (not the one-by-one wall tiles, but the actual four-corner room placing tool), but that flooring is invisible too! My Sims can even walk on the floor still, so apparently it's still there, I just can't see it. I've tried looking up this issue, but I can't seem to find anyone else with this problem specifically. Right now I am in the process of repairing my files, and will run the game after with no mods installed. I just find this whole thing annoying because I repaired the files not even a week ago for a separate glitch, and it takes forever! I just figured I'd post this just in case someone does have this same problem, so I will give an update later if repairing the files even works to fix this issue.

Also, the mods I had installed were MCCC, Better Build Buy, UI Cheats, and Murphy Bed No Death. No CC at all.

@leanimrodI haven't fixed it, but I have figured out why it happened! I re-downloaded the original build from the gallery, then I got done fixing the structure to how I wanted it to look, and I then used the "Move House - Reposition your house" tool in the bar at the top of the screen, and apparently moving the lot in any sort of way is what makes the second floor invisible. I also noticed that there is also a weird, corner curving railing sticking out of the ground that I can't delete or interact with whatsoever. I have a feeling that whatever glitch is happening here might have something to do with that.

I have attached a screenshot of the glitched railing in question.

You could try building a ceiling on the downstairs room:

    Select the downstairs room

Click the "next level up" button in the top right corner of the screen

Click the yellow highlight around the top of the selected room

    "Build ceiling" should come up.

If it says "Remove ceiling," then click that and then "Build ceiling" should be available.

Sometimes the game gets confused with rooms of different sizes and shapes upstairs and downstairs from each other and a ceiling has to be rebuilt.

@mightyspritesims I was hopeful since I didn't know that this was a thing, but unfortunately, it didn't work. I added and removed the ceiling multiple times, but the second-floor flooring is still invisible.

@leanimrod Have you tried placing fencing around sections of the invisible floor? This has been happening to me (on Xbox Series X) a few times and I can't explain it. But if I fence off pieces of it it comes back as flooring. I then delete the fencing. For some reason, fencing works better than walls. I just put the walls back later. I've had all kinds of gaps in upstairs rooms and balconies, but manage to fix it that way. You can stretch the fencing into a room shape or just do small sections and it should fill in with floor tiles.
    Hope this helps, good luck.

@simsplayer818 Thanks for the suggestion. I just gave it a try, but it did not work, the floor is still invisible. I think I might just have to demolish my progress and start over because I think the lot itself-- StrangerVille Overlook-- is broken/glitched.

  • This happened to me just now. I loaded my game and the save lives in an apartment in san myschuno and the second flooring is gone. Furniture is still there, but unable to place flooring in build buy mode
