Sim & Pet stuck at the vets

So now my Sim and pet are stuck at vet.  "go home" is grayed out.  I can't get to worlds to go to another family.

I went back to EA and couldn't load game.  Could only load a new game.  Tried that and don't know how to get back to my original game.

Are problems like this because of EA updates?  It's getting to be a pain.
