Sims 4 - basic question

Hello!

I used to play to The Sims 2 when I was younger. I wanted to start playing again, so I downloaded The Sims 4 on Origin tonight. New to Origin, new to Sims 4. I open the game, and I cannot change anything about my character - literally nothing about its appearance.

Is it because I bought the "BASIC" version? I just want to have access to the whole game; making a character, building a house, everything I did on the Sims 2... What do I have to do to have access to all this?

Did you choose to start with the Tutorial? If so you will have more options once that is finished.
If not then you need to describe exactly what you do and what happens.
