Sims 4 create a story

Can anyone tell me if the create-a-sim story function is only available when you begin a new save ? I don't get an option for a personality quiz when I go into create a Sim in an already existing save ! Thanks 🙂

Click on Story mode when choosing to add a new sim.

If you go to the button that says add sim and go into the menu where It gives you the option to be an alien, mermaid or what have you there should be a picture of a storybook and it will go into the story mode.
