Move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test the game in a new save. See if a sim can use the seance table. Consider getting the complete seance set instead of the individual items Not that it should make a difference I just find it easier to do that.

I also now made a new Documents folder (renamed the old one and let the game create a new one), and it still breaks. The animation makes a short move and then my sims goes back to normal

@Cainmy Did you move your saves folder back into the newly created The Sims 4 folder, or just the individual saves. Some mods put settings files in your saves folder, you need to make sure those are also removed when you remove your mods.
Also, as an aside, I've never needed crystal ball to use the séance table, I always thought it was just for show. I rarely use one (the sim below doesn't have a crystal ball on the séance table).

I made a new save with the "fresh" game and it still would not work at all. With or without the crystal ball. That's what I don't understand.
