Sims 4 Pop-Up Sale Glitch
Hello, I logged into a Pop-Up Sale where the stuff packs are listed at 50% off. When I click the buy now - it takes me to Steam where they are only 25% off and on Origin they aren't on sale at all. ...
@Pandorax4 I just checked the price of all 18 stuff packs on origin.com in a private browsing window, and they're all listed at full price. There was in fact a pop-up sale that ended yesterday, and your game may still be displaying those prices. Sims 4 content is currently on sale in Steam, but not in Origin.
If you're being redirected to Steam, maybe it's because you bought some content on Steam. Either way though, stuff packs aren't currently 50% off.
@puzzlezaddict I find that really weird then because my game is connected to the internet, up-to-date and all the other sale prices listed on the game reflects the same sale price that it directs me to on Steam EXCEPT the stuff packs.
My game has never done this with sales ever. Everytime the game tells me a sale it matches my sale prices in Steam where it always pops up. Except for ONLY the stuff packs right now.
@puzzlezaddict I also just had my niece open up her TS4, from her account. Hers also is listing all the stuff packs at 50% but just opens up Steam where it is only showing as 25% on Steam.
She is on a completely different internet also.
@Pandorax4 Does the game normally direct you to Steam when you click on a sale promo? I own the game through Origin, so I don't know how this works for people who play through Steam.
The two possibilities here are that the game is displaying stale data from the Origin sale that ended, and you're redirected to Steam for other reasons; or that the ad is in fact referencing the Steam sale but the info provided is incorrect. Either way, I doubt there's anything you can do about it. You could of course try contacting Steam, but Steam support will probably tell you that the prices posted in its store are correct and you need to take up any discrepancy with EA. And EA help is likely to point back to Steam.
I'm not at all saying that you shouldn't report this or do anything about it, just that you should be prepared to see zero results.
@puzzlezaddict Yes, it always directs me to the Steam sales when I purchase. I've only ever known about Origin sales if I go to Origin directly.
That's why I posted here. It is clearly a glitch where the 50% is suppose to be the deal and it isn't processed properly or the deal really is 25% and they have the wrong info up. Trying to clear up what the glitch is. I originally posted this in the technical issue because it is a glitch but someone moved the thread over to the General Discussions so I'm going to assume that no one from EA will see it here and that I'll just wait until the next sale to get my stuff packs.
@puzzlezaddictHi there, @Pandorax4 is completely correct. The Pop Up sale you're referring to which ended on Feb 9 had sales on Expansion and Game Packs, but no Stuff packs at all were for sale. I was close to buying a few packs in Steam for the 25% off/ 7.49 price, which began about the time the Exp packs/ Game packs Origin sale ended. I own Sims 4 through Origin, Xbox and Steam, but now play through Steam. We're able for the PC version, as long as we own the base game in Steam to buy our DLC wherever is cheapest (Steam, Origin, or stores selling DLC codes like Amazon, only XBOX is separate) and it installs to our game.
I can confirm this was an entirely new sale, which specifically has 50% the Stuff packs branded all over in game including banners on the Gallery circle icons that states 50%. This is still active now and has been active for the past couple days. I thought maybe it was in preparation for the Lunar New Year Sale and now there are some items on Sale in Origin, but not the Stuff packs. But it remains in game when you click Buy Now it links us to Steam and adds it to our cart for 7.49. I indeed cleared cache multiple times the past couple of days for Origin, the Sims folders including spotlight cache, etc. and even the 'download cache' in Steam.
The main difference is that the 4.99 price is incentivizing me to pretty much buy the remaining stuff packs I was missing versus planning to hold off until the anniversary sale like they had last year. I contacted Steam support and all I got back was we don't price match. I've responded to them now and said wasn't looking for matching, but we are just trying to understand where this sale is meant to be on which site. Thanks!
I'm getting the exact same thing. its been like that since at least 2 nights ago. I actually found one stuff pack that was actually 50% off (tiny living) which I was able to purchase through steam for the correct price. This is super frustrating and honestly feels a bit skeezy.
