sims 4 walls wont build on second floor/ roofs wont place correctly.

Hello All,

I have tried everything thinkable to resolve my problems, so this is my last resort. I am playing The Sims 4 on a MacBook Air. At first it started with roofs not placing right. If I were to try to build one on the second floor, it would place it on the first floor. If I tried to place one on the first floor, it would place it on the ground. Now I cant even build a second floor, because the game wont let me! Walls wont place, and when I hover over the first floor, it places the wall underneath in the first floor. I don't really have a lot of expansion/game/stuff packs so the game shouldnt be acting weird like this. I have tried updating the game, repairing the game, and I even tried to uninstall it. This wouldnt be a big problem if I didnt only play the Sims to build stuff.

  • I seem to have the same issue they're having... I thought it was because of mods so I removed everything I had and tried to repair the game but it's not working.

Basically when you go up one floor and try to build a room, wall, roof, anything really, the cursor wants to build on the first floor instead of where you actually want to build. It is not the same issue you mentioned about the roof poking through a wall, it's new (for me at least) issue.

Apart from what is in the video, I also tried to add a second floor and those seem to work fine. It's just the ceiling of the first one that is buggy.

**note: I've had no issue with roofing at all before I started using the transparent roofs in each build where I encountered the issue.**

Sure enough, the issue IS indeed with the transparent roofing.

Just made the test. All is good when the roofs aren't transparent and as soon and I change them back to the transparent ones, the issue comes right back.

So my advice for anyone who is having this issue would be to wait till the end of their build to change the roofing :D

  • @crinrict Hello! I'm having this issue right now. I can't place wall on second floor. When I click Page Up to go the the second floor, the floor (or you can say first floor roof) is invisible unless I zoom out.
I tried to do what Gengar said, and turn out it's true. Once I removed invisible roof, I can place second floor, the floor (first floor roof) also not invisible now.

I have another issue with swimming pool, I think I will post it soon.

THANK YOU! I was going crazy trying to figure out how to build a second floor when remodeling a house with part glass roof. Now I just changed the roofing while building, and the problem is gone.

Thanks! I just encountered this issue and was pulling my hair out unsure what was going on. Will do glass roofs last! Weird bug to still have into 2021...
