Sims Can't Put Food Away in the Refrigerator

@Dreamspinner3 Hmmm... I'll watch for if I see this. I hardly ever have them do it, I must admit, as they may drop the thought or something while I'm distracted. I always grab the serving dish or plate of food in 'live' mode with the 'select' tool and drag it to the refrigerator myself.

I've noticed that they're unable to put spoiled food in the fridge, and have had some random glitchy things with produce (why can't you put that stack of carrots in the fridge? are there too many carrots in there already? but we have Simple Living and I want the entire household to have access to ALL OF THE CARROTS!), but not with cooked food (fortunately).  I'll keep an eye out.

Yes, it's happening for me too. 

On a lot with Simple Living, using the new Icebox fridge from Cottage Living, my sim made a cottage pie, and couldn't put it away in the fridge, they got a routing error (waving their hand like something was blocking it).

I can drag the food into the fridge, and they can take it out of the fridge again.

Also, when I made the food, they took it all the way into another room to place it down on the coffee table, rather than placing it on the free counter (that they had prepared the food on to begin with) or the dining table (which I was able to drag it onto and have them interact with it, so I know the slots on the table were free). I don't know if this is related in any way.

@Dreamspinner3 While playing this afternoon I tested this out a bit. The first Sim I tried showed a failed routing error bubble:


Then I tried with a child Sim (same household, right after this) and another adult Sim and they both did grab the platter and take it to the refrigerator and put it away correctly. 

I also am not having an issue with them getting food from the refrigerator, and the lot has the 'Simple Living' trait. I'm on Mac, am fully updated, have all packs, and have no Mods and no CC.

So I ran into something that's kind of the opposite.

My Sim who lives in San Myshuno with his friends cooked a lovely meal and I couldn't drag it to the fridge, but I could tell him to put it away.  (No Simple Living, worst fridge in the game.)  Ditto my Sim who lives in Windenburg; I can't drag his food to the fridge but he can put it away. (No Simple Living, Schmapple fridge.)

I haven't tried with my Sims who do have Simple Living because I routinely drag it to the fridge myself.  LOL

I... why can't I put my Sim's food into his fridge?  Why does he have to do it?

I can absolutely open a bug report if you want, but it's kind of the opposite of the OP's issue.  Let me do my own test tonight and I'll see what I can come up with.  (I have mods--nothing crazy, MCCC, UI cheats, AllCheats, age check on roommate behaviors, cats can find things on other floors--but they'll want me to take them out.)

[Edited to add] - Okay, I just tested having a Sim put cooked food away with Simple Living, and she has the base game IceBOX Vintage fridge instead of the new one and is able to put food away fine, so I think it's the new fridge.

[Edited to add]  Okay, so, I started a clean save with the mods folder dragged to the desktop and mods disabled.  I was unable to reproduce this in Cordelia's Secret Cottage.  I thought it might be the Budget Dee Lux fridge that lot comes with--the same fridge I'm having problems with in San Myshuno--so I bought the new vintage ice box fridge (that's the one you're having issues with, right?) and... nada.  Will keep trying.

[Edited to add] Okay, guys, it's almost Critical Role time 😉 and I'm having no problems at all with the new ice box fridge and the Simple Living lot trait at Cordelia's Secret Cottage.  I wonder if it's a weirdly placed light or something (I live in the Goth's Ophelia Villa in two different saves and Bella and Morty's En Suite eats Sims unless you delete the light (and sometimes the ottoman, the painting, etc., there's a bug report, other people say replacing the door helps).  What lot are y'all playing on?  My Sim only has $386 but I did attend the Romance Festival and loot the flowers, so we're about to be in the money.  😉

[Edited to add again]  Okay, the save where I can't put things in the fridge?  I can with mods disabled.  Are you using mods?

@xochiquetzl_xkvn I don't use Mods or CC. I have all packs and all updates. I will plan to try a few more tests. I have multiple Sims on the lot and realized afterward that I didn't check if someone was blocking the fridge when the one Sim showed the blocked thought, so that may be possible? But... since my other Sims, and he, otherwise seem to use the command fine I wonder if it's intermittent, and/or if it could be triggered by a combination of factors? I'll keep an eye on it and add information here if I see anything pop back up.

I also almost always drag the food to the fridge also. This way if anyone has a sudden crisis and drops their queue I don't have to wonder if it got done. I send everyone for leftovers, and that works great for me with my large households.

@Dreamspinner3 Do you have Mods/CC? If you do, please try, as @xochiquetzl_xkvn mentioned, without your Mods/CC and see if the issue is fixed then.

@SheriGR  If you and @Dreamspinner3 are playing on the same lot it might be a build mode thing, I don't know.  Like I said, I've seen some problems with the Goth's Ophelia Villa, and it doesn't have move objects on or anything.  Just intermittently, someone gets trapped in one of the upstairs bathrooms.  There's a long bug report thread on that house and a house in Oasis Springs. 

Since it's intermittent, you can playtest it and it looks fine until you try to live there and every, I don't know, 10th or 20th time someone uses the bathroom they get stuck.  (They need a shrug emoticon for me to put here.)

That's my guess, anyway. 

@xochiquetzl_xkvn I am playing a vet clinic that I built to also be lived in. I have farm animals, a large home and household, and a they technically live on another lot (where I have 2 roommates living and a maid/gardener), so I'm testing a lot of edgy aspects, and if something is buggy here and there I can't complain. It is in Henford-on-Bagley, 3 Olde Mill Lane, so not the Goth home. Yes, the Goth home has it's own troubles. 😉

LOL good to know.  Yeah, probably not the same thing.  I stand corrected, LOL.

Yeah, my Sim has married into the Goth household in more than one save, and... yeah I'm fond of the house because I've lived there in multiple saves but it definitely has problems.  Especially if you want toddlers or a garden.  :D  Or to use the bathroom.  😉

(My vet lives over her vet clinic and her "real" lot is a tiny house, which I use exclusively for gaining toddler skills fast.  Er.  They're also vampires, LOL, so the tiny house is really barebones--basically a roof and stuff I need for a toddler.  No toilet, tiny kitchenette, no beds for the adults because they don't sleep anyway... just a toddler bed, a potty, a tub, and a million toddler skilling items and pet bowls/furniture/litterboxes.  But I digress.)

@xochiquetzl_xkvn Yaaaa... I chronically digress. @PugLove888 and I decided to have me build and test a clinic/home, and she is making James Herriot (vet) and his family to live in it. I've done this with a retail store before, but not a vet clinic.

It's been an interesting test. I have one of the vets/employees also living as one of the roommates in the 'home' they don't live in. When I hired the maid/gardener they apparently go to the home. They all seem happy and rent appears. At least they get to watch tv on that lot if I forget to summon the children or working Sims to the vet clinic when they get 'home'. [Since the clinic is a period build (1930's), it's only got the new typewriter/computers in a couple of rooms for writing - otherwise no electronic entertainment.]
