Sim's needs drain too quickly

I downloaded The Sims 4 onto my PC, but I can’t play properly. I can’t take my Sims to the gym, the park, or even meet new people because their energy drains within seconds. It’s starting to bore me since all I end up doing is feeding them, putting them to sleep, and bathing them. How can I fix this?
