Sims won't travel to the getaway

I just got adventure awaits and tried to go to a getaway. My sim booked the getaway and choose the "start now" option. The calender kept delaying and ignoring the request even though it registered the getaway for the time. The only solution was to manually travel to the lot - by then the time for the getaway was almost over.
