System requirements to play sims 4 on pc

I've got a computer that has a few years on the neck. I don't know that much about computers, but i would really like to play sims 4. I'm not sure that my computer i good enough to run the game, and I find it hard to understand the system requirements on the Sims page on EA's website.

Would be really happy if anyone could tell me if I should be able to run the game with these specs or if i should just dream on...

  • @nordlovisa  You should be able to play on lower graphics settings.  How low depends on which packs you install: with only the base game, medium or medium-high settings might be fine; with all packs installed, you might need to stay with low-medium settings.

It's fine to experiment with the settings too, turning up one or two at a time and seeing what kind of performance you get.  As long as the laptop isn't overheating, it shouldn't do any harm.  On that note, be sure to play on a hard flat surface, or else elevate the laptop to let air circulate underneath.

If you play the game and are satisfied with how it runs, it's a good idea to add expansions one at a time and test, so you don't get a huge performance hit all at once.  Game and stuff packs generally don't have much of an impact, with the exception of Realm of Magic and possibly the Paranormal pack.
