Transportation System Innovation(suggestions)
The sims4 may not have an open world, but I think it can increase the way to play when commuting (no rabbit hole anymore), the idea is like this.
Hope the development team can refer to it!
●Just like "Get To Work", I hope to add a hidden lot for commuting, go to that lot whenever the Sim goes out or go on vacation, and then switch to the destination after waiting for the time to arrive. (Apply the "Get To Work" mode, and ask if you want to follow before going out.)
●Types of lots
1. Stations/Airports, etc.: Sims can move freely in this area until transportation arrives. (Or just click on an interactive vehicle, and Sims will switch directly to their destination once they enter.)
2. On moving vehicles (cars/buses/airplanes, etc.): As the text says, this is a small enclosed lot. People can only stay in transportation until they reach their destination.
Plus, because the Sims are actually staying in a building that doesn't move. In order to be more realistic, I think the background of this lot can be designed to be constantly moving, so that it has a more commuting feeling.
For example, on an airplane: it can be designed so that there are constant clouds flowing in the sky.
On the subway: It can be designed to continuously shuttle lights under the ground.
The simplest design: it is as dark as the basement, omitting the background design, and only showing the outside scenery on the doors and windows.
(It's a bit like the feeling of taking a boat in a "Pokemon" game, and the feeling of taking a flying boat in the online game "Maple Story".)
However, to avoid spending too much simulation time on the vehicle.
Maybe these particular lots could be designed like The Sims 2 to go back to the point in time before departure as soon as you leave.
In addition, I would like to allow the player to freely set which world to use as the destination world.
This will give a more distant sense of reality in the game, and some worlds should be so far away that you have to travel by boat or plane to reach them.
