I’m experiencing a major issue with The Sims 4 on the EA App on macOS. I’m trying to change the game’s language to Spanish, but only English appears as an option. I’ve been trying to resolve this for hours with EA Live Chat, but I haven’t gotten a proper solution.
I was told to uninstall and reinstall the game, which I had already done before contacting support. This didn’t work – the language dropdown still shows only English.
Advisor then suggested manually changing the language by editing the GraphicsRules.sgr file. I tried this, but there was no line referencing the language to edit.
He also later claimed there was no language lock on my account and assured me they had no manual option to resolve this.
I’ve owned The Sims 4 since 2014 and have always been able to access other languages in the past. Now, I did some research and found out that my UK English version might be language-locked and that I need to buy a different version to play in Spanish (how so?)
The store page clearly states that the game includes Spanish as a supported language. This was clear when I purchased the game and I was able to change language. But not now anymore…
I’ve invested a lot in this game, including buying all the packs and kits, so I feel it’s unfair to now be limited in this way. Why is the UK version language-locked when it costs more than other regions?
Why am I unable to access worldwide language options when they added it to my account?
Is this issue specific to the EA App, and if so, why hasn’t this been addressed?
I’ve seen other users mention that EA Live Chat advisors can remove language locks. However, advisor I chatted with insisted there was no lock on my game, even though I still can’t select Spanish.
I feel like I’m stuck in a loop of reinstalling the game and contacting support, with no resolution in sight.
I want to know:
- Can anyone confirm if the UK English version is language-locked?
- Is there a way to unlock additional languages manually?
- Has anyone else experienced this issue on the EA App?
I’ve been a loyal EA customer for over a decade, and it’s incredibly frustrating to face this kind of hurdle. Any help or insight would be much appreciated.
