Is it possible to have two businesses on one lot? If I have a cafe and a cooking school on the same lot, can I direct customers to one space if only one of the businesses is open? Or will they wander...

Businesses are owned by different sims though
You can't limit the space for different businesses. They will use the whole space but depending on what the business is, they will only do the interactions that you specify for that business.
