Unable to replace grass with stone

Working in build mode on the Oakstead mansion. I removed the trees in the backyard and installed a pool. No problems so far. I decide to surround the pool with the same bricks used for the walkway wh...

    @Nimbindi I'm not sure what would relieve the odd behavior you're having issues with, but something you could try is to remove the path and use a spray path instead. Or you could try using the pool trims for around the pool instead of the floor tiles and see if the tiles would go up to the edge of the pool trim then correctly? (Btw... nice looking build!)

@Nimbindi, I'm happy you were able to place the objects you wanted, even if you gave up on placing the room. 😎 The good thing about free object placement is that you aren't confined to just one of the 3 or 4 color schemes that the Rooms give you. ❤️ And you can slightly adjust objects to your needs 🙂, as I did in my picture  (the Option #4 picture).  The bad thing is that doing this can be tedious if you have a lot of objects to place. 🤒

But I would still try this again when we get the Terrain Tools in the update/patch, because you might find your outdoor "room" problem is solved, or at least much improved! 😉

I don't know if it is the same for you, but when I attach a pic to a post, my Screenshots folder automatically pops up.  But if yours doesn't, here is the pathway that it is probably under (unless you have changed its location):  This PC => Documents => Electronic Arts => The Sims 4 => Screenshots. 📷

I wish I could help you with your pool tile issue.😢  The only thing I can think of is if there is a builder whose items you like in the Gallery, you can try asking them 🤔 😇 .  Sadly I'm not the best builder. 😳  Plus it is difficult to understand some problems until you see them. 

If I run across a possible solution, I will post it here; or if I find someone who is pretty good at building I will direct them here. 😉 I really hope you can fix your problem to your liking! 🤞

@SheriGR, I finally just saw the Terrain Tools livestream!  I'm impressed! :eahigh_file: We really needed these functions in game!  (And I love the upbeat Zydeco music from The Sims Unleased that they played before the livestream actually started!  TS1 was so long ago, but it brings back such fond memories! Unleashed was the entire reason why I bought TS1 for my computer because I had only played The Sims on the PS2 prior to that! 😃  Back then they didn't give you all the Expansion Packs as they were released, so the PS2 version could never have pets, vacations, or magic. )

I also liked a lot of the new features the terrain tools had that they didn't have in TS2 or TS3!  I can't wait! 🥳

@PugLove888 I was thinking it was Sims 2 that I used the terrain tools a lot in, but I definitely would have in 1 also. I loved playing them, but somehow Sims 3 didn't stick with me... it seemed it had lost some of it's personality or appeal to me, and I didn't play it long at all. I never gave it much of a try, I think. Anyway, you were kind-of forced to use the terrain tools to build anyway back then since the lots were rarely (if ever, don't remember) entirely flat. I also remember the lots as seeming much bigger. Maybe I'm misremembering.

I don't see how I could do much with terrain and still have room to build decently it in the small to medium lots currently in Sims 4. And there are only a few large lots, so once you mess with those and build something you'll have to bulldoze those to make more. I kinda hate when I'm forced to 'kill my darlings'. I really hope they release more medium and large lots. I also build with the plan to upload/share in my gallery, so I try to mostly stay with small and medium lots for that now since I know others will also have very limited options, if they still have any at all open, for where they can place a large lot build.

So.... here's hoping it comes with l more medium and large lots - and hopefully a few huge ones we can kinda go crazy with. Wouldn't it be cool if we could get a whole new world also that we could also adjust the rest of the non-lot terrain on (like in Granite Falls - if we could build a forest or mountain area in the world, etc.) Dream on, huh?🙂

    @SheriGR, I could be wrong, but I don't remember TS1 having Terrain Tools!  🤨  I thought they were introduced with   TS2. 🤔

    Also, while I did love TS3, I too never understood the hype.  I thought the gameplay in TS2 was much better! ❤️  The absolute best thing about TS3 IMHO was the CASt color/pattern wheel! 🥳  TS3 was the first time I didn't want to play a Sims game 20 hours straight! 😃  ( I think this is how many people feel about TS4.)  But it was extremely difficult to get me to stop playing or talking about TS1 and TS2! 😳:eahigh_file: (TS2 was the best for telling stories!)  I felt that TS3 was empty by comparison, but still a great game.  But as I added more packs to TS3 and more colors and patterns to it as well, it became almost unplayable.  Most people would have given up on it if they played it on my computer.  Ideally I wish we could have bits of each version of the Sims, and no computer lag!  So I understand how Ts3 never stuck with you.

    As for lot sizes, I don't remember how big the lots were in TS2, but I think in TS3 you could pick any size lot that you had room for, which is why they might have seemed bigger  (that is if you usually picked bigger lots to place and play!) 😉

    While I agree that the Terrain Tools will be better utilized on larger lots, I think a lot of talented people will still be able to make good use of them on the smaller ones! 😎  I don't worry too much about how many large lots there are in my game since most of my families reside in their own Save Game!  I have a lot of save games! 😳  This started when I didn't like the idea of my families aging or moving or dying when I was playing a different family. 😬😢   I wanted to be able to play with all the Sims I made, or all that Maxis had made, or all that I had downloaded.  So I just make a new family and they have their own save.  Sometimes I do put other families in their world, either for a story, and experiment,  or for variety, but each save is primarily devoted to a certain family. 😇  This way I never worry about not having any more large lots, and I can also test out a lot of wonderful houses and other buildings from the Gallery! 🥳  I realize not everyone can or wants to play in this way, so I hope for everybody else's sake EA includes several larger lots in the future! 🙂

    And while we aren't' able to make a true split level house yet, these terrain tools are a definite step in the right direction! ❤️  I think this is going to be a very exciting update/patch! 🥳

      @PugLove888 I'm sure you're right about with games offered terrain tools. 1&2 blend together in my memory. Cracks me up to read your description of the amount of hours... I've gotten over the shock that playing at 11pm then looking at the clock when you're starting to get tired and seeing it is 2-4am. Still shocked I'm doing something different then just working way long hours. 😉

      Yes. I'm also really looking forward to the day they add split-level ability. It does look like if the room is separate I may be able to make that room a different height? Not sure if I'm remembering this part correctly.

      My way of dealing with not losing the other families I'm not playing is to turn aging off. I like your idea of making a new game for the family to avoid this. Can I ask... if I make a separate game for a particular family, can I turn aging on for that one and leave aging off for the other saved games? In other words, does the aging, seasons, and other settings area apply per-game, not as a setting that applies to all game saves? For instance, when I begin a new game, I find it has the same settings. Is this just that the game copies your previous settings to the new game as the default setup, or is it because it is an all-in-one set of settings?

        @Nimbindi, I'm so happy that @SheriGR found a solution for you! :eahigh_file: ❤️  That is why I love posting pictures (if possible) of problems because pictures really are worth a 1000 words!  I see now what you mean about the different tiles not meeting up correctly! 🤨 

        Also I think your house is Oakenstead in Willow Creek -- you stated in your original post that that was its name, and it also looks like Oakenstead! 😉

        Yes, time ceases to exist when playing the Sims -- I have even forgotten to eat while playing until I was sick with a headache and nauseous! 🤒😳😃  I was more concerned with feeding my pixelated imaginary people than I was myself! :eahigh_file:

        Also, your settings for turning aging off, or playing with a long, average, or short life-span, etc. should just be per each individual Save Game.  (I would imagine if you have multiple families that you play in the same save game and wanted one family to have a long life span and another family to have a short one, that this wouldn't work unless you separated them into 2 different save games. 🤔 )  But for different save games you should be able to have different gameplay settings. 😉
