Is there some way to keep electronics from breaking when exposed to the elements? Without using mods

You can actually build roofs by dragging them from existing rooms. I created a green house with a tiny home by placing columns and dragging the roof from where I placed the house.
I did try an object awning over an outdoor espresso machine in the past, it broke quickly. I think the shelter needs to be a building, not an object.
