What happens if I switch to an origin account that doesn't have the same DLC?
(You can move this to the right section if this is not the place where it should be. Thanks!)
So, what I'm trying to say is, I used my friend's account up till now. I have an account of my own, but it only has the Sims 4 base game (which I got for free in late May). My friend's account had all expansion packs and a few game packs & stuff packs. I used to play with my own account, but my friend offered me hers. Then my friend was saying I couldn't use it anymore because she said it might cause problems for her. I didn't want to argue with her, so I let it go. But I used all her packs for different stuff, like my sims are famous, they're in clubs, they live in the worlds that come from those packs, they're wearing extra content clothes, accessories & body features, and the houses are filled with different stuff from those packs. I even used occult types. Now I don't know what to do, I'm scared to even open the Sims 4 on my own account, because I'm thinking it'll strip my Sims of literally everything. I'm waiting for another sale to come up before I purchase anything, but I'm not sure what will happen. Will my Sims still lose their stuff after I buy the same DLC because I didn't have them before or... I dunno. What will happen?
@Synzorasize - If I were you, I would make a backup copy of your TS4 documents folder, and put it somewhere safe to use for when you have the dlc's. (Your friend was right, it's against the ToS to share accounts, so getting everything sorted now is a good idea)
So, backup your sims files following instructions Here. Then, with all your content safe, go ahead and open your games in the base game. You will receive a message that says something like "content used to create this game has been removed". Then all the different pack stuff will be gone. I don't know if things like occult sims will be removed entirely or reverted to regular sims, but I would guess that the sim is no longer available.
So, you could go into a save and see what it looks like. You'll, of course, need to rebuild / redecorate / redress a bunch in your existing games. Or you could just start a fresh new game. You're not going to hurt your original saves by working with a copy, and there may be some that you can salvage. Worst case scenario - just start a fresh, new base game and wait for the sales to access your other content. But at least you can check to see how much work it would be to continue with the older saves until that happens.
Happy Simming!
