Where Do Urns Go?

Lately my Sim's parents died so the house they lived in went empty. I turned that residential lot into a residential rental lot for my Sim to buy it and rent it (as if she had inherited it) so she could enter in the lot without having to move in it (she lives in an apartment in San Myshuno I do not want her to move out from), and that was helpful so I could pick up all the portraits and personal stuff their parents and herself had collected throughout their lifetime, but I couldn't find their gravestones or urns? Where could they be? During this savefile I have experienced many times that everytime a Sim died their urn was in their lot so it was easy to grab it and move it to a graveyard or put it at some fancy spot around the house. But this time I don't know if it's because the lot got empty or what but I can't find my Sim's parents' urns anywhere and I do really want to so she could give them eternal rest...

When a sim in a non-active household dies, usually there is no urn left behind if the sim was the last in that household.  Not always for some reason, just most of the time so what happened for you is what I would expect.

Now, if you really want to get the parents urns, there is a way if you can find their ghosts and resurrect them via one of the in-game means or use a mod.  But the key thing is that you have to find the ghost.  You'll have to invite/ask to join an active household.  Then you can kill them again and you'll get an urn.  Sounds a bit morbid, I know, but it's the only way I've found to get an urn for a dead sim.

Finding the ghost is the hard part.  The easiest way is usually Ghost Night at a bar on Wednesdays.  But one thing on ghosts.  Ghosts will remain in the game for 90 in-game days before they get culled.  So, if it has been a while since they died, you might have gone too long, and they have been culled.  So, it is best to act quickly to save them so you can get the urns.

    Hope this helps.

  • Thank you very much for your response! Now that I know that there is no urn left behind once the last Sim in the household dies it's pretty much what I needed to know to carry on with my gameplay! I wouldn't put that much effort on getting the urns now but it's good to know just in case I would! Also, I've got my own personal trick to get someone's ghost! You can go on vacation with them and once you're at the destination you can use cheats to add it to the household, take them back to life, kill them again, etc. That way it's easier to get and find the ghost rather than look for them everywhere!

    Thank you again!

That is a pretty neat trick! I would have never thought to try taking a ghost on vacation. I'll have to give that a try sometime.
