Why do my sims keep chatting on the computer?

My sims love to chat on the computer autonomously! They have garden , full bookcases , knitting skills , animals to take care of and children, the house is full as form now it’s 7 people on the household . And whenever I do not command them they go chatting on the computer .
if  they do not have computer available , they play mobile games .

i find it sometimes frustrating.  Especially when they leave their kids on play mats or in high chairs and go chatting . Like talk about refrigerator parents . Even those with family oriented traits tent to do that .
