Why do my sims keep dying from a broken heart?

I realize that it's probably from the Lovestruck pack, but is there a way to turn it off?

The majority of my sims are not in relationships, and that's the way I want to keep it. This is even affecting one of my sims that has the "unflirty" trait--he definitely doesn't want a relationship, yet he keeps getting the same sad "broken heart" thing. Any ideas? Thanks for any help you can give
