@8c7cd93d28862768 Hi! I wondered if you might be willing to use cheats to demote your sim and then rejoin the career at level 7, just to see if it changes anything? I do not know if this will change your options; it's just a guess. Of note, when demoted from level 7 your sim will be fired from the career and will get a moodlet (or two depending on their traits) from being demoted / fired. If you're willing to try the cheats as a workaround, click the spoiler and follow the steps.
- Go to game options and choose Save As
-- Choose a new save game and name it something like "Engineer Cheat Test". This will help you differentiate between your current save and the test save.
- Once in the game, press Ctrl + Shift + C
- In the cheat bar, copy / paste this string ... careers.demote careers_Adult_Engineer
- Then press enter
-- Assuming your sim is level 7, they will be fired
-- Your sim will be able to re-join the career at level 7 after three in-game days; Ex. if demoted / fired on Monday, they can rejoin at level 7 on Thursday
-- If your sim is above level 7, you will need to use the demote cheat until they are fired / below level 7
-- Once your sim is back at level 7, check to see if you get the proper task to "guest speak"
For some background, I did some testing for this problem but I could not replicate it. When my sim got promoted to level 7 Mechanical Engineer - Master of Mechanisms, the next day, my sim's work-from-home tasks were Practice Programming and Guest Speak at Mechanical Engineering Class. I kept playing for a full week and never got the "crash" or "guest speak" tasks again. It could be that, in your game, there may have been other factors that were not present in my game. This kind of thing makes it difficult to test, as @luthienrising mentioned.
At any rate, if you decide to try the cheats, please come back and update if it worked or not.
Do you mean demote BELOW level 7? Because I'm at level 7 on the computer side (constructor of computers)

@8c7cd93d28862768 Yes. I was curious if you demote the sim below level 7 and then let them rejoin the career, if you would then get the task "guest speak" instead of "crash course". Like I said previously, I have no idea if this will work for you. I just thought it might be worth a try. Again, note that demoting them from level 7 means they'll be fired and you'll have to wait three in-game days before they can rejoin the career, though they will rejoin at level 7. I suggest first going into game options and do a "save as" to create a copy of your save in it's current state. This way, you will not lose any progress if it doesn't work and can go back to where you left off. Maybe name the new save something like "Engineering cheat test" so that you can differentiate between the saves. If it does work, you can always go back to the main menu and rename the saves as you wish.
As for that other thread, it looks like it was intended to capture all of the problems with the Engineering work from home tasks. I agree with you that your problem is different than tasks like "practice programming" not completing. However, it's possible the moderators believed all the issues are related and wanted to keep them all together in one thread.
- Calamity Jayne12 months agoNew Traveler@JonaO703 I am also having this issue that there is no Crash Engineering Course option. My Sim has just changed jobs and this is the first day of his work which I opted to work from home. He is a support technician so no where near the top of the career. I have been into the travel options and career options on his phone and even gone onto the career option on the PC and crash course is not available. How would I do this please (as in where would I normally see the Crash Course option)

@Calamity Jayne Is this with or without mods/CC?
