The decor plates are called Paranormal Plates... Happy Haunts hint? ?

maybe this pack/trailer has a lot of hints for next year? like the japanese school uniforms?

WHY do people obsess over these? There are LITERAL Japanese school girls in this pack. Hence, Japanese school uniforms.

@Beardedgeek because, I'm not sure if you were around here in the beginning of the year, but the madea poll... official one... asking us what stuff related to teens and high schoold we preferred, and if we wanted them or not. That happened aroudn the same time they made the poll asking us Snowy Escape stuff, which activities we wanted to do on snow, etc...

Private schools and School uniforms are so alien to me. For me it's only England, Japan that does it... and some very rich and privileged Americans.

School uniforms aren't necessarily a bad thing though. And they really aren't a synonym of being rich or attending a school for the rich. It's actually a way to not tell how rich or not a person is and it's a means to avoid bullying over clothing, as everyone wears the same thing. It's ok if it's not part of your culture but don't bash it just because it's different to you.

It is in most countries, because in most countries public schools have no uniforms. So outside England and Japan (that I know of), it is only expensive private schools only kids born with a whole set of silver cutlery in their mouths can go to. AND they tend to be quite full of abuse (often romanticized abuse, like in Harry Potter); the most prestigious Swedish private school had to be shut down for a year because the hazings of new students literally involved torture.

That's not a problem related to wearing a shcool uniform though. Just their education.

I went to a grammar school in the uk in the 1950's and believe me school uniforms were the only way of getting rid of the class bias of those girls from richer families and those from poorer ones in the school. We all wore the same. They enabled Prime Ministers like Ted Heath, Harold Wilson and Margaret Thatcher to get to the top.

First of all... Thatcher is not... an uncontroversial figure to begin with, let's leave her be.
Second... I still don't undestand how that works unless you are forbidden to talk to your classmates so you never find out what street they live on. Not to mention other factors like racism and religious divides.

It's not a matter of finding out where everyone lives or what their parents jobs are. Poor kids don't have money to buy expensive clothes or even have enough clothes to change them everyday. Sometimes even uniforms are expensive for them.

That's my point tho; to think someone who gets off on bullying poor kids will not bully them because they are wearing a school uniform is unbelievable naive to me AND one of those "easy" solutions Adults who doesn't really care like to put in place so they can pat themselves on the back and pretend they do something.

Well, then that is one less issue to be bullied on.

ANYWAY, I don't like school uniforms, but more importantly people who insist they are "foreshadowing" something when all they've done is being true to Japanese tradition are most likely just seeing things that aren't there.

Wish they would have tried to be true to Japanese tradition by adding tea, go, origami, and rock gardens to the pack rather than school uniforms. Also, shouldn't the skirts have been shorter?

there are rock gardens, they were mentioned as one of the additions in the first blog post, and I saw the in one of the gamechangers early reviews.

I saw floor tiles and decorative rocks that can be arranged to look like a rock garden but I haven't seen a sim actually interacting with it, move rocks around, rake pebbles, etc.

this. I worry its just floor tiles and no activity

ts2 we could at least rake some
  • In a world were many snowbirds are not able to travel south for the winter, snowy escape has swooped in and stolen our hearts. Wish everyone could play it now!!!

Well I live in the North, so I really wish I could travel south for the winter ;)
I would love to live somewhere where it never snows, ever.

You'd miss it if you never saw it again I expect!

I don't mind the snow so much as it's never too deep where I live in the UK and not often but the slush comes after when it starts to melt, and that's worse! You go sliding in spite of yourself and whatever shoes you wear! Rheumaticky weather. :(

I found travelling to hot and dry countries in their cooler months very refreshing but didn't want to stay in any of them. Home is best. :)

  • Again I will be waiting for a 1/2 off deal, due to buying 2 packs (one for my granddaughter also) this looks like one of the best ones they have done. I really enjoyed the stream it was well prepared, I haven't watched one for a while because they were very poorly done in the past.
  • I really wish SimGuruGraham would adjust his mic sound down so the level is more like everyone else's sound level. This way the sound would be more consistent and less offensive to my ear drums trying to hear everything and having him come back on and deafen me by comparison.
  • This pack looks so awesim! There is so much stuff to do in the pack and its got me really excited totry it on Friday!
  • I just returned from 2 weeks + away from my game and with restricted internet, so I just tried to catch up. Watched the 2 hrs play through vid and it was all very interesting and 2 hrs passed by like 15 minutes (except the poor sound on those gurus calling in). It seems like a fun pack, and with quite some in depth play, too. I live in the north, don't do any winter sports myself, but loves the seasons and the snow. So, seeing my sims doing some of those snowy activities feels tempting. I'm glad there is something for all ages.

I'm not convinced though, as at the moment I can't see how I'd fit this in with my rotational game. None of my sims could go on a vacation lasting more than max 2 days, and there's no way I could send all my families to this snowy location. There's too much other stuff going on in my game. This is not a complaint, and I could always play a year "outside the rotation", but it would mean taking forever moving all my households forward. I recently grabbed Vampires pack and none of my families have aged in a long time because of me stopping the rotation to explore a new pack.

I wish this pack had more for sims not traveling to Japan. I can obviously use some of the cultural items on their home lots, but that would not be enough for m to add the pack. I also worry a bit for the sentiments thing, which I obviously can't avoid. It looks very well thought out as a new memory system, and it will probably make my sims feel a bit smarter and more reflected, but if the system is added to every living sim in my game (is it running even for NPCs?) I'm afraid I'll experience some lag. Hopefully there is a restriction to how many sentiments a sim can have, not like in TS2(?) where the rather small everyday memories (hugged Lisa for the first time) added up to a never ending line of memories of very little value. If there can only be 4-5 sentiments at a given time, it might help though. We'll see :)

Still very excited to see more from this release, and I'll definitely keep an eye on reactions on release. The world looks nice, and I might get it eventually just for that :) Aaand - for taking my sims up to that high mountain top which looks awesome! Hopefully there can be rough weather up there, too - if having Seasons.
  • My biggest problem will probably be my indecisive mind. I was planning for my family to live in the new world with a vacation home in Sulani, but now when building that vacation home I realize how much I really really love Sulani and how I really don't want to force my Sims to live anywhere else... so I might end up doing the opposite after all.
