I’ve not come across the name Osteer before. I tried googling it and not much came up, google thought I meant “austere”. Maybe it’s the name of someone in the Sims team or one of their relatives.
It's likely intentionally alluding to "austere." Austere can mean plain or devoid of luxury; as a foil to Nancy and marrying into the luxurious landgraab family.
